The aide will accomplish this goal under the direction of the classroom teacher and the supervision of the building principal.Specific Performance Duties: Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacherAssists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilitiesGuides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and signed by the teacherCorrects papers and supervises testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacherAssists with such large group activities as reading aloud and story tellingServes as the chief source of information and helps any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacherAlerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual studentMaintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of teachersParticipates in inservice training programs as assignedKeeps bulletin board and other classroom or school learning displays up to dateAssists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field tripsPerforms other job related duties as assigned by the teacher, principal or designeeWorks with individual or small groups of students on specific skills and/or assignmentsAssists in classroom by answering individual student's questions while he/she is working on assignmentsMonitors/assists students during lunch, free-time activities or work placementsAssists students with personal health needs such as feeding, walking, etc.Accompanies student to inclusion classes, as neededKeyboards study materials, classroom materials, examinations, and correspondenceAssists in classroom documentationEvaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on evaluation of support services personnel.This job description in no manner states or implies these are the only duties and responsibilities to be performed by the position incumbent.
