Duties Perform proper pruning on shrubs, small trees, ornamentals, perennials, and grasses to maintain health and visual appeal. Implement irrigation systems to optimize water use and promote plant health Apply horticultural practices including planting, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, and pest control to support plant vitality Monitor plant beds, bioswales, pollinator gardens, and specialty planted zones for health and maintenance needs. Perform landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming, pruning and weed control to keep outdoor spaces pristine * Assist with farming or gardening projects by planting new flora or harvesting crops as needed Conduct routine inspections of greenhouses and outdoor areas to identify issues early and address them promptly Requirements Ability to identify common Florida plants and landscape species Understanding of fertilization techniques, soil health, and nutrient management. Proven experience in gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance with a strong understanding of plant care principles Ability to operate hand tools such as shovels, pruners, rakes, as well as power tools like trimmers and lawnmowers safely and effectively Knowledge of lawn care practices including mowing, aerating, fertilizing, and pest management Experience working with landscaping or agricultural equipment in outdoor settings Strong physical stamina to perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions Excellent attention to detail with a proactive approach to landscape health and aesthetics Strong knowledge of plant pruning methods and landscape horticulture. Ability to work outdoors year-round in Florida weather. Able to lift 40+ Ibs, bend, stoop, walk long distances, and perform physically demanding tasks. Preferred: Experience working in parks, botanical gardens, or public outdoor spaces. Knowledge of coastal Florida native plants and pollinator-friendly species. FNGLA, FCHP, pesticide applicator license, or other horticultural certifications.
