REPORTS TO: HORTICULTURE/LANDSCAPING MANAGERThe purpose of this job description is to communicate the responsibilities and duties associated with the position of YARDS AND GROUNDS / LANDSCAPER. It is imperative that you review these duties, skills and physical requirements closely and that you understand that by signing the Job Description Acknowledgement, you are verifying that you can perform all the duties, have the skills and possess the physical abilities that are necessary to perform the job as described.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:The following attributes are desirable for job success: ability to communicate effectively, safety conscious, preference for detail work, ability to work well under pressure, self-motivation and self-direction, ability to work with/without direct supervision.JOB SUMMARY: To achieve maximum visual effect by planting and maintaining annuals, perennials, shrubs, and groundcover.WAGE/HOUR STATUSNon-Exempt (eligible for overtime)MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, Fair Housing, Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and all other laws.Duties include, but are not limited to:On a regular scheduled basis maintain weed control, growth and plant replacement on all CPS Properties Tree trimming, mulching, planting flowers and shrubs Gravel installation Remove dying, diseased or damaged trees, bushes, palmetto beds, tree vines Weed & pesticide application Repair existing irrigation i.e. sprinkler head, broken pipes, minor pump repair, electrical valves - solenoids etc.Transport related equipment, supplies, and replacement between facility locations in own vehicle by lifting and carrying Details property on a regular basis. Cleans and rakes shrub areas; shovels mud when necessary. Uses blower to keep sidewalks and walking areas clean of loose grass and brush. Promote good public relations with residents, co-workers, and company staff through great "people" attitude and resident trust. Always display a friendly and courteous attitude towards residents and other employees. Never confront supervisors or other employees in front of residents. Perform, and report on, all work according to the safety standards of the company, OSHA and health codes. Perform work area clean-up on a weekly basis. Ensure storage areas remain locked when not in use. Compliance with management company personnel and operations policy and procedures and compliance to company standards. a. Working knowledge and understanding of system software b. No signing of contracts permitted c. Stay abreast of current policies and guidelines; maintain policy manual as changes are effected. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to Landscaping Manager. Will work with employees, outside vendors and service providers.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Hours of Work: Basic schedule includes, but is not limited to, Monday thru Friday 40 hour work week, on call for emergencies.Experience: Prior experience in gardening, horticulture, running landscaping equipment, mowing/lawn care, lumber yard or building material experience helpful.EducationHigh School diploma required.Computer / Office Skills: N/APhysical RequirementsExtensive mobility and good physical condition must be able to perform the physical functions of the position. Ability carry/lift up to 50 Ibs.,kneel, crouch, climb, crawl, etc. Must have tolerance to all extremes of hot and cold weather. Be able to effectively communicate with guests, staff, supervisors, vendors, etc. IND123
