Job Description Reports To: General Manager / Director of OperationsDepartment: Front of House – Beverage OperationsEmployment Type: Full-TimeExempt / Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt (unless otherwise classified by ownership)Position SummaryThe Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing all bar operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, controlling costs, and leading a high-performing bar team. This role blends hands-on service leadership with inventory management, staff training, and operational execution in a fast-paced, hospitality-driven environment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESOperations & Guest ExperienceOversee daily bar operations to ensure speed, quality, cleanliness, and consistencyMaintain high standards of guest service and hospitality at all timesEnsure compliance with alcohol service laws and responsible service policiesResolve guest concerns professionally and promptlyCoordinate bar service with kitchen and floor teams during peak periodsStaff Leadership & TrainingHire, train, schedule, and supervise bartenders and barbacksLead by example during service, including bartending when neededConduct ongoing training on recipes, service standards, upselling, and safetyCoach, discipline, and evaluate bar staff performanceFoster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented cultureInventory, Cost Control & OrderingManage liquor, beer, wine, and bar supply inventoryPerform weekly inventory counts and reconcile variancesOrder product based on sales trends, events, and par levelsControl beverage cost through portion control, waste reduction, and pricing accuracyWork with vendors to maintain quality, pricing, and timely deliveriesFinancial & Administrative DutiesMonitor bar sales, labor costs, and profitabilityAssist in menu development, pricing, and seasonal drink featuresEnsure accurate POS setup for beverages and modifiersComplete required reports, logs, and compliance documentationCleanliness, Safety & ComplianceEnsure bar areas meet health, safety, and sanitation standardsEnforce safe alcohol service and ID verification proceduresMaintain cleanliness of bar stations, storage areas, and equipmentEnsure all staff certifications are current (e.g., alcohol service permits)QUALIFICATIONSRequiredMinimum 5+ years of bar management or lead bartender experienceStrong knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, cocktails, and bar operationsProven leadership and team-management skillsExperience with inventory control and cost managementAbility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and high-volume eventsExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsPrior experience with promotions, events, or drink specials
