Athletic Trainer JobID: 1909Position Type:Athletics/Activities/Athletic TrainerDate Posted:1/29/2026Location:Teaneck High SchoolDate Available:03/09/2026Closing Date:Until FilledAdditional Information: Show/HideAthletic TrainerEssential Qualifications:Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.New Jersey DOE Certification as an Athletic Trainer.NJ Athletic Trainer license.A valid Board of Certification for Athletic Trainer.Ability to work effectively with staff, parents, community members, and students to maintain and strengthen sound human relations for the improvement of the school program.Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously in a multicultural, diverse community.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.Essential Functions:The athletic trainer shall be responsible for the prevention, care and reconditioning of injuries incurred in all interscholastic athletic programs. This shall include:Preventative tapingFirst-aidConditioning of athletesEvaluation of functional capabilityReconditioning of injured athletesPhysician referralsBe available for home scheduled practices and interscholastic events.Attend away contests at the discretion of the athletic director.Attend practice sessions where need is most prevalent as directed by the athletic director.Work cooperatively with the athletic director in scheduling and providing physical examinations and certifications for all athletes.Work cooperatively with the team/school physician and under his/her direction in respect to: physician an/or hospital referrals; reconditioning of injured athletes; treatment of athletes.Administer first-aid to injured athletes on the field, in the gymnasium, or in the training room.Record all injuries and treatments and maintain a file of these.Is responsible for the determination of when an athlete should return to athletic participation.Handle all medical insurance claims and file injury reports.Upon request, assist coaches in setting up and carrying out conditioning programs.Work cooperatively with the supervisor and coaches in selecting protective equipment.Apply protective or injury preventive devices, such as adhesive strapping, bandaging, padding or braces.Supply first-aid kits for each team, when requested.Supervise and maintain the training room.Supervise assistants and student trainers.Counsel and advise athletes and coaches on matters pertaining to conditioning, training, playing status, safety, diet, and reconditioning of injured athletes.Implement the professional improvement plans as specified in the observation and/or evaluation reports.Perform, as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee, additional or alternate duties which are within the scope of employment and certification.Salary: Pursuant to TTEA Salary Agreement pursuant to education and experience.
