This position also reviews underwriting analyses to verify accuracy, consistency, and adherence to Bank credit policy. The Senior Commercial Underwriter serves as a resource for complex commercial requests and loan structures, and coordinates with credit analysts and senior leadership to support timely and well-supported credit decisions. This position reports to the Commercial Underwriting Manager and provides excellent service and support to team members and customers while demonstrating the Company’s values and supporting the mission.Position Duties & ResponsibilitiesPrepare loan requests for intake to include reviewing for completeness, concentration risk, and adherence to Bank credit policyCommunicate with lenders and loan assistants regarding incomplete loan requests, assisting with resolution as neededAssign loan requests to credit analysts for financial spreading, cash flow modeling, and comprehensive analysisMentor credit analysts regarding loan structure and methodologyReview underwriting analyses prepared by analysts and underwriters to verify accuracy, consistency, and adherence to Bank credit policyCommunicate with lenders and credit analysts regarding incomplete underwriting analyses, assisting with resolution as neededServe as a senior technical resource for complex commercial credit requests and loan structuresPartner with Relationship Managers, Credit Administration team, and senior leadership to support timely and well-supported credit decisionsIdentify opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency, documentation quality, and exam readinessMaintain strong internal controls and examination preparedness within the underwriting functionConsult with lending team members and provide guidance regarding the commercial underwriting process and loan policy interpretationVerify departmental documents and activities are compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies and proceduresMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networksAttend training as requestedAdhere to compliance with all federal bank regulations and laws, including those for consumer protection and the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering ProgramParticipate in outside community activities as requiredPerform other duties as assignedRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related field7 years of experience in a related role5 years of banking experience preferredAdvanced skills with Microsoft Office to include ExcelSolid ability to read, analyze, and interpret personal and business financial statements and related tax returnsAbility to apply technical knowledge and expertise to department policies and proceduresAbility to work on multiple projects simultaneously while accomplishing daily tasksEffective verbal and written communication skills with strong presentation skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsCritical thinking, problem solving and analytical skillsHigh standards for integrity, honesty, professionalism, and work ethicCommitment to service excellenceAbility to work independently while demonstrating excellent organization and follow throughDemonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workloadAbility and willingness to work with purpose and a strong sense of urgencySelf-motivated, positive, and enthusiasticSelf-starter with a strong desire to exceed expectationsMaintain confidentiality discretionAbility to effectively work in collaboration with others to achieve business objectivesWilling to grow and be challengedComprehensive Benefits & RecognitionWe believe success should be acknowledged and celebrated.
