Electrical Estimator

Our client, DAVIS Construction, is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to support preconstruction and bid efforts for large, complex commercial projects across the DMV. This full‐time, HQ‐based role is ideal for a detail‐oriented construction professional with strong electrical estimating and scope development experience—particularly on MEP‐intensive commercial projects.DAVIS is one of the region's most respected, 100% employee‐owned general contractors, recognized for its people‐first culture, operational excellence, and long‐term investment in its teams.As an Electrical Estimator, you'll play a critical role from pursuit through project handoff, ensuring accurate, competitive electrical scopes and cost estimates that set DAVIS projects up for success. You'll collaborate closely with project teams, subcontractors, and design partners and contribute to continuous improvement through post‐project feedback and closeout reviews.Location: On‐site, Rockville, MD (DAVIS Headquarters)*Hybrid schedule available after approximately 6 months, with manager approvalWhat You'll DoReview project plans, specifications, and RFP documents to prepare detailed electrical cost estimatesCoordinate with project teams to establish scope, construction standards, and estimating assumptionsPerform quantity takeoffs and conceptual estimating throughout design phasesDistribute bid documents and solicit competitive pricing from qualified subcontractorsReview drawings for constructability and scope gaps or overlapsEvaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations for completeness and accuracyMaintain estimating databases, subcontractor lists, and historical cost dataAttend design meetings, internal reviews, and bid day pricing sessionsSupport project turnover and participate in close‐out meetings to ensure lessons learned are capturedBuild and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and design teamsWhat You Bring4–10 years of relevant construction estimating experience (commercial projects strongly preferred)Electrical quantity takeoff experience using On‐Screen Takeoff (or similar software)Strong scope writing experience, particularly Divisions 16–18Pricing and vendor quote review experienceSolid understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systemsExcellent analytical, organizational, and time‐management skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present estimates clearlyProficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)Experience in commercial and/or residential construction environments preferredBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferredWhy DAVIS ConstructionDAVIS is the largest general contractor solely focused on the Mid‐Atlantic and is known for its employee ownership, stability, and collaborative culture.
