Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Solar Construction Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and successful completion of commercial photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage (BESS) projects throughout California. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated leader with strong construction management skills, a thorough understanding of commercial electrical systems, and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
The Construction Manager will serve as the primary point of contact throughout construction and will coordinate with engineering, permitting, procurement, subcontractors, utilities, inspectors, and clients to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
ResponsibilitiesProject Management
Manage multiple commercial solar projects simultaneously from pre-construction through project closeout.
Develop and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software.
Monitor project budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Coordinate material procurement and delivery schedules.
Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Lead project kickoff meetings and weekly construction meetings.
Maintain accurate project documentation and daily reports.
Field Operations
Coordinate field crews and subcontractors.
Ensure work complies with project plans, NEC, local codes, OSHA requirements, and company quality standards.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and quality.
Resolve field issues quickly while minimizing schedule impacts.
Coordinate inspections with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
Manage punch lists and final project turnover.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Serve as the primary client contact during construction.
Provide regular project status updates.
Coordinate with utilities regarding interconnection requirements.
Collaborate with engineering and design teams to resolve construction issues.
Maintain positive relationships with clients, inspectors, vendors, and subcontractors.
Safety
Promote and enforce OSHA safety standards.
Conduct jobsite safety inspections.
Ensure all subcontractors comply with company safety policies.
Investigate and document incidents if they occur.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of commercial construction management experience.
3+ years managing commercial solar PV projects.
Strong understanding of commercial electrical construction.
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Experience coordinating with utilities and AHJs.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and electrical one-line diagrams.
Experience managing subcontractors.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout California.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with commercial carport solar systems.
Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS).
NABCEP certification.
OSHA 30 certification.
Electrical trade background or electrical contractor experience.
Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar construction software.
Experience managing prevailing wage or public works projects.

Pay: $45.00 - $52.00 per hour
