Accounting Manager

DescriptionWe are looking for an Accounting Manager to lead core finance operations for our client in Shawnee, Kansas. This position oversees shared accounting services across payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable while helping strengthen reporting accuracy, compliance, and team performance. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, a process-improvement mindset, and the ability to translate financial data into practical business recommendations. Reach out to Molly Gardner at 816-601-1196 for more info!Responsibilities:- Lead daily financial operations across payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing.- Manage and coach a team that includes payroll administrators and leaders responsible for receivables and payables functions.- Drive hiring, onboarding, employee development, and performance management for finance staff.- Establish and track key performance indicators for transaction-based finance activities, using results to improve efficiency and service levels.- Strengthen internal controls, standard procedures, and accounting guidelines to support accurate financial activity and regulatory compliance.- Oversee the preparation of recurring financial and operational reports, confirming alignment with applicable reporting standards.- Partner with external auditors and internal stakeholders by organizing documentation and responding to requests during annual audits and other reviews.- Provide analysis and recommendations to leadership related to payroll, receivables, payables, and broader financial objectives.- Ensure finance operations comply with applicable local, state, and federal requirements.Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.- At least 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance leadership roles.- Demonstrated background overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and full-cycle payroll functions.- Experience managing staff, setting priorities, and developing high-performing teams.- Strong knowledge of compliance requirements, internal controls, and financial reporting practices.- Proficiency with a large ERP like SAP or Oracle, Microsoft Office applications, and financial reporting or business intelligence tools.- Ability to analyze KPI trends and translate findings into process improvements and business recommendations.- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain financial information to varied audiences.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
