Safety and Compliance Specialist

Safety and Compliance SpecialistHooker Creek Companies is seeking a Safety & Compliance Specialist to support and strengthen our company-wide safety program. This role works closely with the Safety Director to help maintain compliance with federal and state regulations while promoting a strong, practical safety culture across all divisions.This is a hands-on, field-oriented position that blends safety inspections, training, incident response, and regulatory support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and confident interacting with employees at all levels of the organization.What You'll DoSupport and reinforce a positive safety culture across all company operationsAssist in maintaining compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and DOT/FMCSA regulationsConduct safety inspections at job sites, plants, and facilitiesCoordinate and document safety meetings and trainingsAssist with development and delivery of employee safety training, including new hire orientationParticipate in incident response, including investigations and documentationHelp maintain OSHA logs, safety records, and regulatory reporting requirementsAssist with job safety analyses and implementation of safe work practicesSupport regulatory inspections and documentation as directedReview driver safety videos and provide coaching feedbackCollaborate with the Safety Director, HR, and field leadership on safety initiativesRespond to after-hours safety incidents as neededWhat We're Looking For2+ years of experience in occupational health and safety (construction, mining, or similar industry preferred)Working knowledge of OSHA regulations; MSHA and DOT experience a plusStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently while following established proceduresSolid organizational skills and attention to detailComfortable working in both office and field environmentsSkills and Experience Required:Excellent communication, adherence to deadlines, and the ability to prioritize in an ever-changing environmentCritical thinking and problem solving skills for complex and nuanced situationsWell-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to assess others' interests and tactfully deliver difficult messagesAdvanced skills with the Microsoft Office SuiteAn Associates or Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Construction Safety, and/or related job experience is preferred.Minimum of two years of experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in construction or mining industries; experience with DOT driver regulations is a plus.Job-related safety credentials such as OSHA 10/30/500 training, MSHA certification, or equivalent experience are strongly preferred.Valid Oregon driver's license required; must be insurable under company carrier.Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with manual endorsement is beneficial.Benefits include competitive pay, medical, dental, 401k retirement savings plan with company match, group and voluntary life insurance as well as vision, paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.Please note that we are a drug free workplace.Hooker Creek Companies, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
