Bilingual Sixth Grade Science TeacherJOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 03/05/2026 CLOSING DATE: 03/30/2026 04:00 PM POSTING NUMBER: 052161 LOCATION: Grangerland Intermediate - 068 POSITION TITLE: Bilingual Sixth Grade Science Teacher JOB DESCRIPTION:Provide bilingual students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable bilingual students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the District's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles and include cross-linguistic practices to bridge the languages.Produce and/or translate instructional resources to support the state of Texas Spanish Language Arts curriculum and the CISD's One-Way Dual Language Program model.Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board policies, and administrative regulations.Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to District requirements.Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school district.Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.Establish and maintain open of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.Regular attendance.Other duties assigned.ASSIGNMENTS TO VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION:Seamlessly integrate District-approved online learning platforms and required software into the planning, delivery, and support of virtual instruction.Plan, prepare, implement, and evaluate lessons and activities during the standard work hours of the campus at which the teacher is assigned, as well as prolonged or irregular hours.Be able to communicate with students, parents, and campus and District personnel during the standard work hours of the campus at which the teacher is assigned, as well as prolonged or irregular hours.Adhere to all professional responsibilities and deadlines including professional communication and responsiveness.Be flexible, responsive, and positive with students, parents, and staff.Effectively translate CISD Best Practices into the virtual instructional setting.Regularly attend and apply District-approved professional development in the most up-to-date practices associated with virtual instruction.Accurately and timely obtain and report required student data, including attendance, grades, etc.Dress professionally as you would if you were offering instruction to students in a traditional, in-person setting.Teach and interact with students from a quiet space, free from distraction, where appropriate confidentiality rules can be followed.Create a virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.Provide small group and tutoring opportunities for students who are experiencing difficulty in their learning.Support any extracurricular activities for which you are responsible according to District guidelines.Attend all required campus and District meetings. EXPERIENCE:QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree from accredited universityValid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned to include bilingual certificationSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of subjects assignedGeneral knowledge of curriculum and instructionGeneral knowledge of second language acquisition and cross-linguistic instructions practicesAbility to instruct students and manage their behaviorStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to fluently communicate (i.e. speak, read and write) in Spanish CONTACT INFORMATION: SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress.
