Manual Machinist

Manual MachinistJoin a dedicated team responsible for maintaining and repairing large rollers used in paper and steel mills. As a Manual Machinist, you will rework dull rolls and rethread them using a manual lathe. Additionally, you will manage the sole CNC machine in the facility, performing setups, tooling changes, and minor program adjustments to ensure the parts run correctly. This role involves using overhead cranes to maneuver and position large rollers in the machine, emphasizing precision and attention to detail.ResponsibilitiesRework and rethread dull rolls using a manual lathe.Conduct setups, tooling changes, and offsets on the CNC lathe.Make minor tweaks to existing CNC programs as necessary.Use overhead cranes to move and set large rollers in machines.Ensure all work aligns with safety standards and quality expectations.Essential Skills3-5 years of experience as a Manual Machinist with the ability to conduct setups and teardowns.Proficiency in reading blueprints.Experience with micrometers and manual lathe operation.High School Diploma or GED.Additional Skills & QualificationsJourneyman Card in Machining or Tool and Die.Experience in programming and troubleshooting.Ability to edit CNC programs (GSS).Why Work Here?This organization prides itself on a century-long history without layoffs, fostering a stable and reliable work environment. The dress code includes jeans, a t-shirt, personal protective equipment, and steel-toed footwear.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Saint Joseph, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $29.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
