Accounting Oversight SpecialistOur associates celebrate lives. We celebrate our associates.Assists in the oversight of the monthly close, reviewing and preparing journal entries, reconciliations and variance explanations, mentoring staff accountants, and special projects as assigned to the Lease Accounting team.Job ResponsibilitiesReviews and approves all assigned balance sheet account reconciliations providing appropriate feedback to the team members.Ensures that balance sheet transactions are properly supported and classified in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.Incorporates daily monitoring and analysis to ensure balance sheet account reconciliations are free of material misstatements and errors.Prepares ad hoc reports and analysis as needed by other departments.Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual SOX controls as required.Oversees reconciliation of various Balance Sheet accounts.Reviews analysis of inter-company relationships and transactions.Reviews information and schedules provided by various departments.Assists in research of accounting issues related to complex or non-standard transactions.Assists with special projects as necessary.Provides support in analysis of developments in US GAAP; ensure implications are understood and our accounting policies remain appropriate.Minimum RequirementsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related disciplineExperience:Three (3) years of experience in corporate accounting or equivalent experience in a related fieldOne (1) year of supervisory or lead experienceKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Understanding of accounting principles, GAAPAbility to analyze data and provide recommendationsAbility to work independently, prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlinesAbility to prepare and present working papers and supporting documentationAbility to predict risk factors and identify solutionsHighly motivated with interest in analysis approach, improving models and analysis, proposing new ways to view things, helping formulate opinions and action steps based on analysis performedProficiency with PC software such as Excel, other Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to express ideas clearly and effectively in both written and oral communicationsExperience in satisfying Sox compliance activitiesLocation: US-LA - Jefferson
