Job Title: Windows & VMware Administrator (Cloud Infrastructure Operations Engineer) Location: Dallas, TX (Onsite)Long term ContractJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Windows & VMware Administrator to support and manage enterprise infrastructure environments for the City of San Diego. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience in Windows Server administration, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSphere, NSX-T, vSAN, and cloud technologies.This role is responsible for maintaining the stability, security, performance, and availability of mission-critical infrastructure across production and non-production environments. The candidate should have experience handling infrastructure upgrades, migrations, P1/P2 incident resolution, performance optimization, and ITIL-based operational support. Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and support VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, NSX-T, and vSAN environments.Install, configure, maintain, upgrade, and patch Windows Server 2019, 2022, and 2025 environments.Perform Windows Server operating system upgrades, server migrations, and lifecycle management activities.Troubleshoot and resolve Windows Server performance issues related to CPU, memory, storage, networking, services, and applications.Monitor server health, resource utilization, and system performance to ensure optimal availability, reliability, and operational efficiency.Support VMware infrastructure upgrades, lifecycle management, patching, and security vulnerability remediation activities.Troubleshoot and resolve virtualization, storage, networking, and operating system issues within enterprise environments.Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.Provide support for Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents, including escalation management and timely resolution.Automate routine administrative and operational tasks using PowerShell, PowerCLI, and other automation tools.Collaborate with network, security, cloud, storage, and application teams to address infrastructure and operational challenges.Participate in infrastructure changes, patch deployments, maintenance activities, and after-hours support as required.Adhere to ITIL-based processes for Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Request Management.Utilize VMware Aria Operations and related Aria Suite tools for infrastructure monitoring, performance analysis, capacity planning, and operational reporting.Assist with infrastructure capacity planning, performance optimization, and continuous service improvement initiatives.Possess a basic understanding of cloud platforms, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and support hybrid cloud environments where applicable.Required Skills & Experience5–10 years of experience in Windows and Vmware system administrationHands-on experience with VMware (vSphere, VCF, ESXi, vCenter)Strong troubleshooting skills for application and OS and Vmware -level issues during outagesExperience with AWS cloud server managementStrong understanding of OS migrations and upgradesITIL process knowledge (Incident, Change, Problem Management)Good to HaveExperience with automation tools (Shell scripting, Ansible, PowerShell, etc.)Exposure to enterprise monitoring and backup toolsSoft SkillsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work under pressure in critical situationsExcellent communication and coordination skillsCertification (Preferred)Microsoft Certified (Windows Server / Azure)VMware Certified Professional (VCP)ITIL Foundation
