Parent company CIRCOR International is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts and CIRCOR Aerospace & Defense is headquartered in Corona, California.POSITION DETAILSPosition SummaryThe Quality Engineer shall support the business in areas of new product development; process improvement daily production support; analyze and interpret technical data (engineering drawings, QA specifications, purchase orders, etc.) and create shop routings, operations sheets, tools, and other necessary processes and equipment to produce a high-quality product. This also includes QA assignments pertaining to customer quality requirements/clauses that need to be interrupted and information flow down to other internal or external processes.Principal ActivitiesParticipate in the Company's Corrective Action and MRB BoardsComplies with all company policies/proceduresComplies with all military and contractual requirementsWorks with quality, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, engineering, and operations personnel to drive continuous improvement in products and processesDevelops, acquires, sorts and analyzes performance data to identify adverse trends and improvement opportunitiesAssure all regulatory requirements are maintained and kept current (FAA/PMA, UL, AS9100, AS9100, PED, ASME and other related agency certifications)Takes a leadership role on continuous improvement teams to drive root cause analyses and corrective action plansPrepares graphic presentations of performance trends with action plan summariesParticipates in product design activities and contract reviews to determine conformance to customer requirementsPerforms quality and reliability assessments for recommended product improvementsInvestigate and respond to Customer's Corrective Action RequestsWitness tear downs of Customer's Returns and Qualification UnitsParticipate and lead MRB activityValidate Assembly and Test Procedures, as neededDevelop Flow Charts, SPC, PFMEA and Control Plans for product families and processesUse of Six Sigma Methodology during Root Cause AnalysesEscort and lead Customer AuditsAssist Customer Source on issue resolutionTrack Continuous Improvement ProjectsDevelopment of Standardized Work InstructionsCANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSHigh ethical standards. Models and supports organization's goals and values; adapts to changing conditions; demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles.Demonstrated aptitude for process improvement and use of Lean and Six-Sigma resources and tools.Demonstrated problem-solving skills aimed at identifying and correcting the root causes of problems or events, as opposed to merely addressing the immediately obvious symptoms.Must be able to perform assembly level tolerance analysis, NDT audits, FAI review, and Purchase Order Review.Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey information and ideas in a variety of media, tactful, confident, at all levels, internal and external.Strong metal processing background, i.e., Heat Treating, Surface Finishing, Forging, Casting, etc.Solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking; collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data. Ability to read and interpret documents.Ability to write clearly and informatively routine reports, correspondence, and designs workflows and procedures. Presents numerical data effectively.Demonstrated aptitude for process improvement and use of Lean and Six-Sigma resources and tools.Knowledge of and experience working with customer and industry-specific requirements/standards across the product life cycle.Thorough knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Project, and other applicable toolsEducationBachelor of Science Degree in Engineering preferred experience in related position will be considered in lieu of degree. Master of Science in Engineering a plus.Experience: 5+ years of hands-on quality experience in an aerospace or high precision manufacturing environment with high mix / low to mid volume production rates preferred. Extensive machining background in the production of close tolerance highly precision products involving various types of metal alloys preferred.
