Estimator II or Estimator III
EPI Power is hiring an Estimator II or Estimator III to join our team. The Estimator III prepares complete estimates for construction projects under guidance and direction of his or her supervisor. Assignments will include quantity surveying, pricing, bid solicitation, compiling cost history and preparation of system comparisons and cost analysis reports. Typically, the Estimator III reports to the most senior estimator in the assigned business region.EPI Power, LLC (“EPI”) is a licensed electrical contractor and subsidiary of The Weitz Company that specializes in data centers. We believe our employees to be our most valuable asset, and we are committed to growing a diverse and inclusive culture that inspires, motivates, and continuously improves.What You’ll DoQuantity surveying, pricing, bid solicitation, compiling cost history, and preparing systems comparisonsQuick creative thinking and the capability of meeting deadlinesRead and develop an understanding of all technical plans, specifications, and related documentsDevelop an understanding of the estimating software system and utilize company standards to produce reliable and well-documented quantity surveys in a timely mannerGenerate schematic estimates of projects assigned. Pricing based on historical data and adjusting pricing as needed to allow for project conditionsAssist in conducting organized sub and vendor solicitation while accurately communicating the required scope of workEnsure complete trade coverage is obtained and advise project lead of potential solicitation shortfallsDevelop an understanding of the process for maintaining a record set of estimating documents including all addenda, changes, and clarificationsUnderstand the preparation of bid-day spreadsheets and detailed proposal tabulation sheets (Bid Tickets), including any custom client cost breakdown/schedule of valuesAssist in reviewing trade proposals and scope letters as received to identify gaps in the scope of workDevelop a solid understanding of how subcontractor bonding insurance, insurance, performance bonds, permits, taxes, LIT, labor burdens, escalation, and contingency may impact project costsAssist in preparing the final estimate for rollover to the job cost accounting systemAssist in preparing the appropriate documentation for the closure document, such as the area analysis report, parameter report, parameter comparison report, value analysis report, qualifications/clarifications, and documents listAssist in the analysis of cost alternatives, send requests for cost analysis input to subcontractors as applicable, and provide quantity review as directed.What We're Looking For Experience:Six (6) years of experience in an estimating roleConstruction industry experience is a plusAn industry related bachelor's degree is strongly preferredSkills:Self-starter with the ability to work independentlyHighly organized and detail-orientedMotivated to provide high-quality, accurate workAbility to learn new applications quickly as the industry grows and changesSkilled with prioritization and multi-taskingExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAnalytical with the ability to be proactive and solve problemsTechnology:Proficient in computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookAbility to learn specific job-related software upon hire Bluebeam, Revit, and other estimating softwareCandidate should be familiar or proficient inAdditional Requirements:Currently located in the Des Moines, IA area or willing to relocate permanentlyAbility to onboard in Gig Harbor, WA for first 3-5 months of employmentWhat We OfferCompetitive PayComprehensive Benefits Package with Tax-Advantaged HSA and FSA offeringsEmployer-Paid Short- and Long-Term Disability ProgramsEmployer-Paid Life InsuranceGenerous Paid Time Off Provisions401K Retirement Savings Plan with Company MatchTuition ReimbursementFully Paid Parental LeaveVoluntary Products Including: Critical Illness Insurance and Accident InsuranceCorporate Wellness Program with Wellness Time Off and RewardsVisa sponsorship is not available for this position at this time.The Company does not accept unsolicited resumes from search firms or agencies.
