Summary We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Staff to join our team at the YMCA. In this role, you will work directly with students to facilitate engaging programs that promote learning, growth, and community involvement. Your contributions will be vital in shaping a positive environment for young people. Responsibilities Provide a warm, caring environment where children are safe and have fun. Promote character values by demonstrating and encouraging acceptance of the values of honesty, respect, caring, and responsibility. Encourage children to develop an awareness of human diversity, to appreciate and accept the differences in others. Increase self-confidence and independence by strengthening leadership skills through teamwork activities. Be a positive adult staff person who models the behavior expected from the children. Stimulate an awareness of emotions and feelings, as well as being a positive role model to help the children understand appropriate and positive ways of expression. Use and teach effective conflict resolution. Encourage and support open communication with children and their parents. Must maintain and follow all safety guidelines to provide a secure environment Must complete 4 C requirements within 60 days of employment Qualifications: Must have reliable transportation to and from job site; job sites include the Kishwaukee Family YMCA in Sycamore as well as school locations in Cortland, DeKalb, and Malta. Infant/Child and Adult CPR/AED certification within 60 days of job Experience Required: Preferred candidate will possess excellent organization skills, curriculum design, and effective written and oral communication skills. Preferred candidates will be looking for experiences which are working towards teacher certification.
