TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST, NAAUTOMOTIVELocation: Blue Bell, PASalary Range: $71,000 - $80,000Position OverviewThe Transportation Specialist is responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing transportation operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of goods. This role plays a critical part in managing carrier performance, controlling freight costs, improving service levels, and enhancing end-to-end logistics efficiency through data-driven insights and process improvements.Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation Planning & ExecutionPlan and coordinate daily transportation activities, including shipment scheduling, load consolidation, and route optimizationEnsure timely and accurate execution of shipments (inbound and outbound) aligned with customer requirements and service level agreements (SLAs)Manage exceptions such as delays, damages, and delivery issues, ensuring rapid resolutionCarrier ManagementCoordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and 3PL providers to ensure reliable transportation servicesMonitor carrier performance (OTD, transit times, cost efficiency) and drive continuous improvementSupport carrier selection, onboarding, and contract complianceFreight Cost ManagementAnalyze freight spend, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support implementation of cost optimization initiativesValidate freight invoices, resolve discrepancies, and ensure alignment with agreed tariffs and contractsTrack and report key cost metrics (cost per shipment, cost per ton/mile, premium freight)Compliance & DocumentationEnsure compliance with transportation regulations, trade compliance requirements, and company policiesManage shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs paperwork, and export/import documentationSupport audit readiness and adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., DOT, customs regulations)Systems & Process ManagementUtilize transportation and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, TMS) for shipment planning, tracking, and reportingMaintain accurate transportation master data (lanes, transit times, carriers, rates)Support system improvements, testing (UAT), and digital tool adoptionPerformance Monitoring & ReportingTrack and report transportation KPIs such as on-time delivery, transit time adherence, freight cost, and carrier performanceDevelop dashboards and performance reports using tools like Power BI or ExcelProvide insights and recommendations to improve service and reduce logistics costsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field3–6+ years of experience in transportation, logistics operations, or supply chain executionHands-on experience with TMS, ERP systems, and freight management processesStrong understanding of transportation modes (road, rail, ocean, air) and logistics networksExperience working with carriers, 3PLs, and freight providersStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis); experience with SAP or other large-scale ERP systems is a plus.Proficiency in Excel and data analysis; experience with Power BI or similar tools preferredKnowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirementsAbout SKF AutomotiveSKF Automotive is a global leader in bearing and sealing technologies, delivering innovative solutions that enhance vehicle performance, safety, and efficiency.
