Coordinate and implement civil engineering projects from conception through completion. The Mechanical Engineer supervises the labor crew onsite as well as managing the operation's services, maintenance and clean up. They also insure completion of construction projects by coordinating engineering designs, confirming specifications and works with internal and external contractors and agencies to insure timely completion of plant buildings and infrastructure maintenance or improvement projects.Job ResponsibilitiesInitiates, and coordinates construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and modelsPrepares engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic dataDetermines project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costsDevelops construction specifications, plans, and schedulesConfirms adherence to construction specifications and safety standards by monitoring project progress; inspecting construction site; verifying calculations and placementsAssuring Safety of the labor crew, supervisors, and other personnel in accordance with OSHA/MSHA standardsInvolved with the management and implementation of 5s-Lean managementFulfills project requirements by training and guiding operators and outside contractors to accomplish business objectivesCoordinates construction permits in conjunction with environmental departmentParticipation in major outage preparation, coordination and executionSupervisor will insure that there is documented Task Training in their employee's training files for all tasks required of the jobSupervisors will insure Accident/Incident Reports are completed in a timely mannerSupervisors will conduct "Root Cause" investigations for all accidents in their areas, and document such findings in a set formatTo ensure that all new equipment handovers come with operation guides, troubleshooting guides and any relevant standard worksQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or equivalent1 to 3 years o experience in large scale building projectsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesPreferred: Advance skill in CAD, AutoCAD, Design Skills, Site Development, Database Design, Planning, Conceptual Skills, Legal Compliance, Drafting, LISP, Problem Solving, BI and other Microsoft Macros.Working ConditionsWorking some nights and weekendsContinuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise and working outdoorsMust wear all necessary protective equipment while at the locationPhysical RequirementsRequires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing to a significant degreeMinor lifting up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objectsWhile performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to communicate with employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipmentMust be able to perform all job functions which include, but my not be limited to, pushing, turning and or/pulling of controlsLegal NoticesCEMEX is an EEO/AA (equal opportunity/affirmative action) institution and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, religious creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, ancestry, age, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital or familial status, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by under federal, state or local law in the programs or activities which it operates.CEMEX will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with all local, state and federal laws.CEMEX is an E-Verify participating employer.Arizona Smoke-Free Act.
