Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced science educator and curriculum developer to create comprehensive tutoring materials for students preparing for the New York State Biology Regents examination. The ideal candidate will develop engaging, standards-aligned content that helps students master both biological concepts and essential laboratory and test-taking skills.Key Responsibilities:Design and write a complete tutoring curriculum covering all topics tested on the Biology NYS Regents exam, including molecular biology, cellular processes, genetics, evolution, ecology, human body systems, and biodiversityCreate lesson plans, study guides, practice exercises, and assessment materials aligned with NYS Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS)Develop multiple question formats including multiple choice, constructed response, and laboratory-based questions that mirror the new Biology regents exam structureWrite clear explanations of biological concepts, scientific processes, and connections between molecular and macroscopic phenomenaDevelop test-taking strategies, graph interpretation skills, and time management techniques specific to the Regents formatDesign materials that emphasize scientific literacy, critical thinking, and evidence-based reasoningEnsure all materials are accessible and culturally responsive to diverse student populationsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Science Education, or related field; Master's degree preferredNew York State teaching certification in Biology or General Science (grades 7-12)Minimum 3-5 years of experience teaching Biology or preparing students for NYS Regents examsDemonstrated knowledge of NYS Science Learning Standards and new Biology Regents examination formatStrong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and scientific methodologyExcellent writing and communication skills with ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearlyPreferred Qualifications:Experience developing educational curricula or instructional materialsFamiliarity with differentiated instruction and accommodations for diverse learnersKnowledge of current educational technology and digital science simulation toolsTrack record of successful student outcomes on Biology Regents examExperience with inquiry-based learning and laboratory instruction$38 - $45 per hour, depending on experience
