Senior Grant Accountant

We’re looking for a Senior Grant Accountant to take the lead on all things grant-related—accounting, reporting, and compliance. This person will manage a complex funding portfolio, ensure audit-ready financials, and act as the go-to resource for program teams and leadership. What You’ll Be Doing Grant Accounting & Compliance Oversee the full lifecycle of grant accounting across multiple funding sources (state, federal, and private) Ensure compliance with grant agreements and donor restrictions Track and reconcile grant-related activity including expenses, revenue, receivables, and deferred revenue Handle billing, reimbursements, and required financial reporting in line with funder expectations Monitor budgets and provide variance analysis and guidance to program stakeholders Financial Reporting & Close Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules tied to grant activity Play a key role in month-end and year-end close Support audit deliverables, including Single Audit (SEFA) schedules and grantor requests Assist with financial statement prep and internal reporting Controls & Process Improvement Maintain and strengthen internal controls around restricted and grant funds Identify opportunities to improve processes, accuracy, and efficiency Support proper grant setup in the system, including cost allocations Collaboration & Leadership Partner with program teams to advise on budgeting, allowability, and reporting Act as a resource or mentor to junior staff when needed Work alongside finance leadership on policies and compliance initiatives What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including strong exposure to grant accounting Solid understanding of fund accounting and compliance requirements Experience working with federal and/or state grants (Uniform Guidance knowledge is key) Advanced Excel skills and comfort with accounting systems Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing deadlines Nice to Have Background in nonprofit, government, housing, or community-based organizations CPA (or actively working toward it) Experience supporting Single Audits Familiarity with housing or community development funding $85,000 - $95,000 Please email your resume for immediate consideration.
