Designs, tests, analyzes, optimizes, characterizes, troubleshoots and validates ultra rapid multiplexed PCR assays for use in decentralized settings, including integration with upstream sample preparation technologies. May facilitate, develop or recommend improvements and/or new procedures related to products or processes. Provides technical review, direction and feedback to others and may lead small to medium projects. Independently develops data presentations for use within organization.What You'll Work OnInvestigates, creates and develops new methods and technologies for project advancement involving nucleic acid extraction and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with limited assistance. Designs and executes experiments, performs analyses and implements follow-up actions, to accomplish established milestones.Conducts moderately complex experiments but seeks advice when needed from more experienced colleagues to solve technical and design challenges. Generally able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and independently. • Applies knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures for PCR assay design and development.Able to perform RA III responsibilities as well as conduct more complex scientific studies expected from a more experienced scientist.Works on problems of moderate complexity and diverse scope related to qPCR, RT-PCR, dPCR, rapid PCR, multiplexing PCR, nested PCR with the ability to analyze experimental results to support data interpretation, draw conclusions, and initiate troubleshooting and root cause analyses.May plan and work on projects of smaller complexity under limited supervisionParticipates in routine maintenance and lab safety.Prepares technical reports and experimental documentation; independently documents scientific data in compliance with Quality Systems; applies critical thinking and judgment. With minimal guidance, develops protocols, writes reports, and prepares summaries and presentations for peers and stakeholders.No formal supervisor duties, but may direct less experienced RAs in their day to day work and assist in problem solving.Required QualificationsB.S in biological or physical sciences, or mathematics Experience/Background ExperienceMinimum 3 years 3+ years of progressively responsible positionsPractical Lab Skills with increasing knowledge complexity with experienceMore advanced Problem –solving skills with experienceHas good knowledge of science and the ability to apply more complex and advance principles and techniques with experiencePreferred QualificationsDegree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field. Ph.D. with no industry experience or Master's degree with 4+ years of relevant industry experience or Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant industry experience.Minimum of 2 years of experience developing rapid, multiplexed PCR assays.Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices and procedures related to molecular amplification technologies, including PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, dPCR, rapid PCR, multiplexing PCR, and nested PCR, including evaluation, analysis and interpretation of data.Working knowledge of experimental approaches/protocols and scientific methods such as designing experiments and interpreting data, with increasing knowledge complexity with experience.Proficiency with DOE methodology to optimize experimental conditions.Proficiency in analyzing qPCR data using Excel and JMP. Familiarity with liquid handling automation systems.
