3rd Shift Working Team Lead
Shift: 3rd; 11 PM Sunday - 7 AM Friday
Position Summary
The Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing daily production activities and ensuring that the assigned team and production areas are actively engaged in meeting customer demands in alignment with the production schedule. This role requires hands-on involvement in operations, including learning machine processes to effectively support the team and stepping in to cover operator break periods and scheduled/unscheduled PTO. The Shift Lead plays a vital role in maintaining workflow continuity and acts as a key support figure on the floor. The Shift Lead provides effective training to team members, fostering skill development and readiness across roles. They are accountable for upholding safety protocols and quality standards at all times, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. A critical aspect of the role is preparing the next shift for success by ensuring a smooth handoff, clear communication, and that all materials, tools, and documentation are in place for ongoing operations.
Job Responsibilities
Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the Copperweld Production System.
Assist in overall production process including job assignments, schedule adjustments, line startups and/or shutdowns and change overs.
Ensure all materials are properly staged and readily available to all operators (raw materials, conductors, resin, paper tape, spools, etc.)
Perform production tasks in any position during absences and/or breaks for regularly assigned employees.
Learn and understand the job and process flow; be able to troubleshoot and train.
Work cross functionally across all levels to resolve issues; minimize downtime.
Ensure team members are conducting required inspections to confirm product acceptance; perform random quality checks.
Support, comply with, execute and coordinate employee training in all continuous improvement, quality management, safety and preventative maintenance efforts.

Position Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent
3 years’ production experience preferred
Demonstrated time management, leadership, organization, team involvement and self-starting
Ability to develop and maintain knowledge, skills and proficiency along with ability to mentor and train effectively
Proficient at problem solving and resolution; technical and mechanical
Effectively communicate through oral and written communications
Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to build working relationships with cross-functional teams
Proficient at working with Plex: manufacturing, quality, etc.
