Apply via Dice today!Job Title : Technical Writer - Secret ClearanceLocation : Manassas, VADuration : ContractInterview Process: Onsite for local candidates, panel video interview for non-local candidatesJob DescriptionOur client, a leading federal defense contractor is seeking a mid-level Technical Writer to help develop and deliver support products for the US Navy, specifically the Common Weapons Launcher (CWL)/Multi Tube Weapons Simulator (MTWS).Responsibilities:Review and provide feedback on draft and preliminary maintenance documents and technical manualsValidate test procedures during testing events both in the lab and on submarines, sometimes requiring shift workCreate operations and maintenance procedures for technical manuals and training documentsMay need to travel to Rhode Island for trainingRequired SkillsMust have an active DoD Secret clearanceRequires a Bachelor''s or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent (4 years job-related experience) and 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master''s degree.Experience using S1000D or XML to develop and publish Interactive Electronic Technical ManualsAbility to prepare documentation for delivery in a variety of formats (e.g. .doc, .PDF, HTML and XML/SGML-tagged online and IETM).Familiarity with military documentation using current DoD specifications and standards including, but not limited to, MIL-STD 40051-2C (preferred), MIL-STD-3001, MIL-STD-38784, or MIL-STD-24784.Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel a must), XMLSpy, MS Visio, PowerPointStrong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsKnowledge of military/commercial requirements/specificationsPrevious Navy experience is a PLUSPrior technical writing for submarines is a PLUSAny knowledge / experience with Common Weapons Launcher (CWL)/Multi Tube Weapons Simulator (MTWS) is a PLUS
