Title: Masker
Department: Paint Line
Reports to: Production Manager/General Manager
Summary
Responsible for preparing vehicles for painting and detailing by effectively masking areas that should not receive paint. This role is crucial in ensuring high quality finishes and protecting non-painted surfaces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The ability to learn and follow company standard operating procedures and best practices to include quality, time, and volume expectations.
Inspect vehicles to identify areas that require masking and note sensitive regions needing extra protection.
Clean vehicle surfaces thoroughly prior to masking including jambs, cracks, and under the hood, utilizing appropriate cleaning materials and techniques.
Utilize proper tools to eliminate wax and grease build-up that may hinder the paint application process to eliminate debris, ensuring a contaminant-free surface prior to masking.
Apply masking paper and tape ensuring secure adhesion to prevent paint seepage during the paint application process.
Back tape jambs, including hoods, decklids, and doors, using appropriate materials to protect against paint transfer.
Utilizing finer masking tape in tighter areas of the vehicle to prevent overspray.
Minimize over and under taping to enhance the efficiency of overspray removal and maintain job quality.
Conduct thorough inspections of all masked edges and corners to confirm that all non-painted areas are adequately protected.
Verify that all masked areas are correctly sealed and that no unintended surfaces are exposed to painting.
Thoroughly inspects all units prior to masking to ensure quality of vehicle is in accordance with company standards.
Reads and follows repair order.
Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Works within the allotted times given.
Performs assigned work in the order and manner prescribed by the supervisor.
Having to read and understand the scope of work on a Repair Order
Moving units in and around buildings in a safe manner
Limits supplies used to perform duties.
Other duties as assigned by their direct supervisor.
Qualifications:
One year of automotive experience is preferred.
Must be 18 years or older.
Valid driver’s license
Transportation to and from work
Physical Requirements:
Frequently lift, carry, and manipulate up to 50 pounds.
Occasionally lift to 100 pounds maximum with assistance
Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, squat, push and pull.
Extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping
Standing, sitting, and walking
Performing repetitive motions
