Head Of Maintenance Operations

Ida Lewis Yacht Club is currently seeking a well-qualified and experienced individual to head up our Operations & Maintenance department. Ida Lewis is an active Yacht Club located on a small island in the middle of beautiful Newport harbor open May to October. Our physical assets maintained by the Head of Operations & Maintenance will include a Clubhouse, several smaller buildings, an 800 ft pier, 81 floating docks, 2 golf carts, 2 inboard power boats, 10 outboard RIBs, an outboard work whaler, 25 junior sailing dinghies including Optis, 420s, Visions, and Argos, and 8 trailers. This is a full-time position from mid-March through mid-November, with limited possibility for special projects, or part-time on-call work in the off-season as needed. The position reports directly to the General Manager and will work closely with the various other department heads (Waterfront Manager, Office Manager, Junior Sailing Director, Chef, etc) to ensure the smooth, safe, and consistent operation of all Club assets at all times. Hours are typically daytime Mon-Fri, with occasional nights/weekends possible depending on Club needs, weather, etc. Responsibilities *Maintains the Club's physical assets, including vessels, docks, pier, and buildings, ensuring smooth and safe operations at all times. *Executes the commissioning (March/April) and decommissioning (Oct/Nov) of the Club. Qualifications *Experience with basic maintenance functions including carpentry, painting, dock work, fiberglass repair, and inboard and outboard engine maintenance and upkeep. *Basic troubleshooting skills to perform fixes and arrange for specialists (mechanics, plumbers, etc) to complete work as appropriate.
