Job DetailsJob Title: CNC Programmer Location: Chesapeake, VA Work Type: On‑site (minimum 4 days per week) Schedule: 4 x 10‑hour shifts (Monday–Thursday) Overtime: Optional Fridays based on workload Compensation: $35–$42/hour OverviewA manufacturing-focused organization is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support the safe, accurate, and efficient production of machined components. This role is centered on developing and maintaining CNC programs using Mastercam, supporting both new and existing jobs while continuously improving machining processes. The CNC Programmer will play a key role in reducing scrap, improving program accuracy, and ensuring safe machine operation in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, write, and maintain CNC programs using Mastercam for new and existing jobsRevise CNC programs to accommodate engineering changes, tooling updates, or process improvementsOptimize machining strategies to reduce scrap, improve cycle times, and eliminate program errorsEnsure CNC programs support safe and reliable machine operationInterpret technical drawings, specifications, and procedures to produce accurate programsCollaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and production teams to resolve machining issuesMaintain accurate documentation, procedures, and program recordsSupport continuous improvement initiatives related to machining processes and toolingRequired SkillsProficiency in modern CNC programming methods and manufacturing software3–5 years of hands‑on experience programming with MastercamStrong mathematical skills, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportionsAbility to apply geometry, trigonometry, probability, and basic statistical concepts to machining applicationsStrong problem‑solving and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data and draw accurate conclusionsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and complex instructionsStrong written communication skills for reports, procedures, and technical documentationEffective verbal communication skills when working with managers, customers, and stakeholdersAbility to manage multiple variables while maintaining accuracy in a fast‑paced environmentPlussesWorking knowledge of InventorExperience supporting process improvements and scrap reduction initiativesBackground in high‑mix or precision manufacturing environments
