Work Control Planner 4📍 Los Alamos, NM (100% Onsite)💰 $80/hr – $88/hr🕒 4/10 Schedule | 1-Year Contract (Extension + Conversion Possible)Position OverviewWe are seeking a senior-level Work Control Planner (Level 4) to support critical operations at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This role is responsible for developing and executing detailed work packages that ensure safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance and operational activities within a highly regulated DOE environment.You will play a key role in planning preventative and corrective maintenance, supporting facility systems, and ensuring work is executed with precision in a secure nuclear setting.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and review detailed work packages including labor, materials, time estimates, and step-by-step instructionsCreate and maintain procedures, safety requirements, and testing documentation for maintenance and operational workSupport planning activities across mechanical, electrical, chemical, and/or radiological systemsIdentify and resolve work constraints, ensuring packages are executable and compliantCoordinate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure successful executionDrive work packages through full lifecycle (planning → execution → closure)Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Maximo or similar toolsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree + 12+ years of relevant experience OR20+ years of direct experience without a degreeStrong background in work control planning, maintenance, or construction environmentsExperience developing technical procedures and work instructionsFamiliarity with facility systems (HVAC, boilers, utilities, etc.)Ability to obtain a DOE Q ClearanceExperience working in highly regulated environments (DOE, nuclear, Navy, etc.)Preferred QualificationsDOE/NNSA or nuclear facility experienceExperience with Maximo, Asset Suite, or similar CMMS toolsCertified Facility Manager (CFM) or Procedure/Policy Writing certification (PPA)Background in facility operations, maintenance planning, or construction supportTop Skills We’re TargetingFacility systems expertise (HVAC, boilers, utilities)Maintenance / construction backgroundProcedure writing & developmentWork control planning experience (planner or manager level)Work Environment100% onsite at TA-16 (LANL)Secure DOE environment (Q clearance required)Outdoor walkdowns and facility inspections requiredMust be able to climb ladders and perform field walkdownsAdditional DetailsStart: ASAPSchedule: 4x10sDuration: 1 year (strong potential for extension or LANL conversion)No per diem (relocation possible upon conversion)Must be able to operate a government vehicleDeal BreakersPoor prior contractor performance at LANLInability to work 100% onsiteSplit schedules not permittedWhy This RoleThis is a high-visibility, mission-critical role supporting one of the most important facilities at LANL.
