Maintenance Worker - Safety and Supply
DescriptionPerforms manual labor, unskilled and semi-skilled work in the operation of trucks and equipment for a wide variety of job functions in various City departments, in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.Examples of DutiesPerforms a variety of manual labor, unskilled and semi-skilled equipment operation; learns to maintain streets, roadway, water and sewer systems, infrastructure, parks, trails, athletic fields, grounds and facilities as assigned; duties will vary according to job assignment. Performs maintenance tasks and general labor work within scope of authority and training, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. Learns to assist in the repair and maintenance of streets, roadways, sewers, parks, fields, playground’s, trail’s, irrigation, custodial work and infrastructure; maintains landscaping and grounds; clears trash, brush, weeds and debris; digs and fills holes; patches, clears and repairs roadway and adjoining areas; installs and maintains signs. Learns to paint/chalk athletic fields. Cleans and maintains City parks and restroom facilities; learns to make minor facility repairs. Delivers recycling/trash containers to residents; collects garbage and recyclables from customer locations; pick up dead animal carcasses from city property and right of way; deposits collected materials at processing/disposal facilities. Learns traffic control functions; follows safety regulations in all work sites. Learns to operate and maintain specialized vehicles, tools and equipment; cleans and assists with maintenance work on tools and equipment. Performs warehouse duties when assigned to include, but not limited to, counting inventory, processing purchase order, accepting shipments, etc. Completes required daily logs and reports. Learns to utilize proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries. Responds to emergencies as directed. Increases ability to perform a variety of work tasks and maintenance procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.Minimum RequirementsHigh School diploma or GED equivalent, and one year of work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
