Middleware Developer

IgniteAction (a Joint Venture between ActioNet and IgniteIT) is looking for an experienced Middleware Developer to join our highly skilled technical team. The selected candidate will provide engineering and administrative support for middleware servers and associated applications. They will work closely with system administrators, application developers, and other infrastructure teams to ensure that stability, security, and optimal performance of middleware servers and integrated applications. They will be responsible for meeting all scheduled timelines and milestones related to the installation, configuration, and upgrades of middleware platforms (e.g., WebLogic, Tomcat) and their associated applications. These responsibilities and services include:Monitoring system performance. Performing middleware upgrades, patching, and routine maintenance as needed outside of normal business hours. Developing notifications to alert staff of critical events. Keeping Transport Layer Security (TLS) certificates current. Working with application developers and the Information Technology (IT) Directorate to resolve problems in a timely manner. Monitoring disk and file usage. Monitoring security logs daily. Conducting daily, weekly, and monthly middleware deployments including environments that are not yet fully transitioned into the configuration management process. Installing, configuring, and tuning middleware components. Planning and conducting patches and upgrades. Respond to middleware administration and support services tickets within a reasonable timeframe, with a target of four hours during normal business hours, subject to resource availability. Conducting troubleshooting. Escalating unresolved issues through the appropriate government channels in accordance with the Government’s established escalation procedures. Conducting performance tuning. Managing user accounts. Tracking and maintaining software licenses/renewals. Configuring middleware environments and deploying applications to supported middleware platforms in coordination with the application teams. Configuring and managing middleware auditing. Reviewing proposed changes and testing those changes in the Quality Assurance (QA) environment. Developing a complete set of documentation describing the current configuration. Developing operational procedures. Ensuring all systems and software are configured and managed to meet Bureau and Federal IT security regulations. Assisting in the development and maintenance of security plans and contingency plans. Participating in risk assessment and evaluation of mitigation strategies. Evaluating proposed technical security controls to assure proper integration with other system operations. Performing transition tasks, knowledge transfer requirements, and audit assignments. Working with development and security staff when secure baselines changes are necessaryAny other requests as assignedKey RequirementsYou hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or an associated fieldYou possess 4-7 years of hands-on experience as a Middleware Developer or in a similar roleYou can study and translate technical release notes into unambiguous project tasks and dependencies for migration and upgradation effortsYou have hands-on experience with application server migration and upgrade projects such as Tomcat, JBoss EAP, Apache, etc. You are well-versed in scripting languages like bash, sh, Perl, and cshYou possess at least a working knowledge of Middleware support and engineering in a RHEL environment, including RPM packaging and release managementYou know, technical concepts like caching, connection pooling, threading, transaction management, etc. You have a working knowledge of software repository and version control systems like GitHub, GitLab, and NexusYou have strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilitiesYou possess excellent communication skills that facilitate interaction with multiple stakeholdersYou are confident, detail-oriented, and highly motivated to contribute to the organization's growth as part of a high-performing teamYou have the ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlinesActioNet is a CMMI-DEV Level 4, CMMI-SVC Level 4, ISO 20000, ISO 27001, ISO 9001, HDI-certified, woman-owned IT Solutions Provider with strong qualifications and expertise in Agile Software Engineering, Cloud Solutions, Cyber Security and IT Managed Services.
