This role is instrumental during preconstruction, partnering closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to translate design intent into winning pricing strategies.The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills and enjoys mentoring others, improving estimating processes, and contributing to successful project execution from bid through handoff.What You'll DoLead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for large-scale commercial, industrial, and institutional electrical projectsAnalyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to define scope and identify risksPerform accurate quantity takeoffs for power distribution, lighting, low-voltage, and specialty systemsDevelop pricing that accounts for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, contingencies, and overheadSolicit, review, and level subcontractor and vendor bids to ensure best value and complianceIdentify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization without compromising quality or performanceAssess project risk and incorporate strategic contingencies into estimatesPrepare and present bids for internal reviews and, when needed, client discussionsCollaborate with project managers and engineering teams during preconstructionMaintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and digital toolsSupport the transition from estimating to operations with clear scope definitions and assumptionsMentor and support junior estimators, fostering continuous improvement within the team What We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred)5+ years of experience in electrical estimating, ideally with an electrical contractorProven experience estimating complex or large-scale projectsStrong working knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and construction practicesProficiency in estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst, or similar platformsExperience in design-build or design-assist delivery environmentsFamiliarity with BIM and digital takeoff toolsSolid understanding of labor productivity, unit costs, and material pricing trendsStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple estimates in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentLeadership mindset with a passion for mentoring and team development Why Join UsPlay a key role in shaping preconstruction strategy and winning competitive workWork on high-impact, technically challenging projectsCollaborate with experienced professionals in a supportive, team-driven environmentCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefits packageLong-term career growth with opportunities to influence estimating standards and processes
