Sr. Oracle SQL Developer/Analyst

Job Title: Sr. Oracle SQL AnalystClient: Direct State ClientLocation: Atlanta, GADuration: 1-year contract (Extension Possible)Target Start Date: August 10, 2026Interview: ON-SITE INTERVIEWS ONLY. Role OverviewThis position primarily works with large, normalized Oracle transactional databases and is responsible for extracting, validating, analyzing, automating, and maintaining operational data.Please note: This is not a traditional Business Intelligence or Dashboard Development position. Approximately 70-80% of the work involves writing Oracle SQL and PL/SQL directly against transactional databases. Candidates must have extensive experience developing SQL from scratch rather than relying on data warehouses, semantic models, or pre-built BI datasets. Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, and optimize complex Oracle SQL and PL/SQL programs from scratch against normalized Oracle transactional databases.Independently analyze business requirements and determine the appropriate database tables, relationships, joins, and business rules needed to answer complex business questions (without relying on visual query builders or AI-generated SQL).Extract, validate, transform, and analyze operational data for reporting, research, grants, and executive requests.Develop and maintain automated SQL processes, scheduled database jobs, and recurring data refreshes.Troubleshoot SQL scripts, automated jobs, and data quality issues.Create efficient, reusable, and well-documented SQL code.Support recurring operational reports, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), legislative reporting, and research initiatives.Collaborate directly with business users to understand reporting needs and communicate analytical findings.Support Tableau dashboards and other data visualization initiatives as needed. Required Skills & Experience5+ Years: Oracle SQL development against transactional databases.5+ Years: Writing complex SQL from scratch (joins, CTEs, subqueries, CASE, aggregate, and analytic functions).5+ Years: Understanding of normalized relational database design and table relationships.3+ Years: Translating complex business requirements into purely SQL-based solutions.3+ Years: SQL job scheduling and automated database processes.3+ Years: Operational reporting and data analysis. Highly Desired Qualifications3+ Years: Oracle PL/SQL (procedures, functions, packages, views).5+ Years: SQL troubleshooting, query optimization, and data validation.Experience with Tableau or other data visualization software.Prior experience working within criminal justice or other large, complex transactional database environments.
