Restaurant Catering Sales and Event Manager
Summary Of PositionThe Restaurant Catering Sales and Event Manager is responsible for proactively generating, negotiating, and closing high-volume catering and private event business for The Canal Club restaurant at The Scott Resort & Spa, part of Marc & Rose Hospitality. This role drives revenue through strategic prospecting, lead conversion, relationship development, and the creative packaging of restaurant buyouts, group dining, and special events, while maximizing profitability and optimizing space utilization. In addition, this position serves as the primary point of contact for clients, managing the full lifecycle of each event from initial inquiry through detailed planning and on-site execution, ensuring exceptional service delivery, clear communication, and a seamless guest experience.Essential FunctionsConsistently achieve or exceed revenue targets as outlined in the Restaurant Catering Sales and Event Manager Incentive Plan.Proactively prospect new business daily, following sales strategies and directives set by the Director of Sales, VP, and/or EVP.Effectively qualify leads by identifying prospects, qualified opportunities, and top-potential clients.Respond to all sales/reservation inquiries and internal or external customer communications within 24 hours.Utilize all sales tools, systems, and documentation accurately and confidently, maintaining up-to-date account details, lead sources, contracts, and revenue information in Salesforce to support accurate forecasting.Systematically establish, build, and maintain positive, professional relationships with clients to drive repeat and referral business.Design, price, and sell events that align with client needs while maintaining creativity, revenue generation, profitability, and food and beverage cost controls.Serve as the primary client contact throughout the event lifecycle, continuously following up to gather all required information and ensure a seamless planning process.Prepare and distribute all required event documentation including event orders, diagrams, group resumes, and related forms accurately and within established deadlines.Manage reservations for groups of six or more, ensuring all accommodations are properly arranged, including special orders, prix fixe menus, and payment coordination.Serve as the primary point of contact for internal site visits requiring Canal Club involvement, including VIP reservations and hosted meals, and assist in site visits as needed.Oversee and monitor reservation activity to support the overall restaurant flow, planning, and successful execution of large party dining experiences.Collaborate with internal departments to coordinate group and event needs, including Sales, Front Office, Reservations, and other operational teams to manage guest room blocks and special requirements.Protect resort assets by maximizing revenue opportunities, optimizing use of restaurant space and inventory, and safeguarding the physical property.Ensure full and timely collection of all event-related revenue by managing deposits, billing, and post-event reconciliation in accordance with contractual terms, in close coordination with Finance.Conduct post-event follow-up with clients to confirm satisfaction, resolve any concerns, and solicit future business.Comply with The Scott Resort & Spa and Marc & Rose Hospitality’s service culture, including our Purpose, Pillars, and Service Essentials.Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned by the Director of Sales/VP/EVP of Sales, Director of Outlets and/or General Manager.QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma required, college degree preferred.Certificates or Licenses: N/AExperience: Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in catering sales, event sales, or hospitality sales within a restaurant, hotel, resort, or high-volume event venue preferred.Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesExceptional multitasking and time management skillsStrong attention to detail and follow-throughExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProfessional and composed under pressureProven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals in a quota-based or incentive-driven sales roleHands-on experience managing events end-to-end, including client communication, event detailing, contracts, billing, and on-site coordinationExperience selling and executing high-volume events such as group dining, buyouts, social events, or corporate functionsWorking knowledge of CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), Microsoft Office Suite and event documentation tools (event orders, diagrams, resumes, etc.)Proficient in reservation and operational systems including Tock, Book4Time, Toast, Homebase, ResortPass, Canary, and Opera, as well as online reputation platforms such as TripAdvisorStrong financial acumen related to deposits, billing, and revenue reconciliationPersonal Characteristics Behaves ethically and honestly Communicates effectively: Speaks and listens and engages in a clear, thorough, and timely manner, effectively reading and writing, using the English language.
