Stainless Pipe Welder

Position SummaryThe Stainless Steel Pipe Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding on stainless steel piping systems used in oil and gas facilities. This role requires precision, adherence to strict safety and quality standards, and the ability to work in demanding field or shop environments.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform welding on stainless steel pipe using processes such as GTAW (TIG), with a focus on high-spec applicationsRead and interpret isometric drawings, blueprints, and welding procedure specifications (WPS)Execute root, fill, and cap passes on piping systems in various positions (2G, 5G, 6G)Ensure welds meet applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API)Conduct proper fit-up, alignment, and preparation of pipe prior to weldingInspect completed welds for quality, including visual inspection and assisting with NDT processesMaintain welding equipment and ensure proper storage and handling of materialsFollow all safety policies, including PPE requirements and hazard identificationWork collaboratively with pipefitters, supervisors, and QA/QC personnelComplete required documentation, including weld logs and inspection reports QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED requiredValid welding certifications (e.g., ASME Section IX) preferredMinimum 3-5 years of experience welding stainless steel pipe in oil & gas, petrochemical, or similar industriesProven ability to pass a 6G stainless steel pipe weld test (TIG root/hot pass required)Strong knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and heat control for stainless materialsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Skills & CompetenciesHigh attention to detail and craftsmanshipStrong commitment to safety and qualityAbility to work independently and in a team environmentGood communication and problem-solving skillsPhysical stamina and ability to work in confined spaces, heights, and varying weather conditions Work EnvironmentField and/or shop environment in oil & gas construction or maintenance projectsMay require travel and working extended hours, including weekendsExposure to outdoor elements, noise, and industrial hazards Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsAbility to stand, bend, kneel, and work in tight or elevated spaces for extended periodsGood vision (corrected or uncorrected) to perform detailed welding work
