The Director of Philanthropy (DP) will work collaboratively with the Executive Director, Governing Board, VP of Programs, Director of Marketing and Communications, and organization’s grant writer to drive and lead philanthropic efforts. The Director of Philanthropy is a highly motivated, relational, self-starter. This position is an important next step as we build an organizational culture of philanthropy. The Director of Philanthropy will have meaningful influence over fundraising direction and long‑term institutional partnerships. This role offers the opportunity to build and shape a philanthropy function with significant influence over long‑term organizational sustainability and scale.Director of Philanthropy (DP):The Director of Philanthropy (DP) is a full time position at Only7Seconds. The DP is a cross-organizational leader, responsible for donor stewardship & support, fundraising operations, grant support, and other philanthropic initiatives to further the organization’s mission. The Director of Philanthropy is accountable for achieving annual philanthropy revenue targets across major donors and institutional giving (including direct responsibility for a personal major donor portfolio), in partnership with the Executive Director and Board.  The DP builds & advances relationships with a large existing donor network and supports new and existing grant & foundation efforts. Additionally, the DP identifies opportunities to expand the organization’s fundraising footprint and leads the growth of the organization.Only7Seconds has ample opportunity and pipeline to begin immediate philanthropic efforts. This position will be able to join and enter with a ready-made, ready-researched pipeline that is ready for activation.DIRECTOR OF PHILANTHROPY RESPONSIBILITIES:Donor Strategy, Cultivation, and Stewardship:Design, refine, and manage major donors programLead and support development team of board, volunteers and Executive Director to steward and grow major donor relationshipsEstablish and lead a planned giving programIdentify, develop, and steward both prospective and active donor relationshipsResponsible for donor discovery and qualificationDevelop individualized cultivation and solicitation strategiesOwn a portfolio of major donors/prospectsInstitutional Giving:Review, prioritize, research, grow, and execute on pipeline of current grants and foundationsWrite and coordinate the submission of funding applications to Grantors, Trusts, and Foundations (in collaboration with program staff & grant writer).Lead on the account management of Grantors, Trusts, and Foundation partnerships, ensuring regular contact, updates and reports are providedUnderstand funder priorities and steward funders into long-term partners.Develop and retain relationships with key grant and foundation funders, both prospective and activeData Management:Manage donor database, including recording the profile and fundraising activity of donors on DonorBoxSupport transition to new CRM (Salesforce) Ensure follow up with donors is executed (including but not limited to giving receipts and thank you follow-ups)Strategy:Actively work alongside the Executive Director to further build a philanthropy strategyDevelop and manage philanthropy budget and annual work plan to ensure board-set targets are metCollaborate with programming staff on prioritized funding needsIdentify additional fundraising opportunities and raise awareness of the organizations’ workServe as the primary philanthropic advisor to the Executive Director and BoardPrepare and present fundraising strategy, progress, and forecasts to the BoardWe are looking for someone who is:Tenacious: You push projects and tasks to completion, ensuring desired results are achieved. You are adept at motivating people, checking in regularly, and creating momentum. An Enabler: You provide support and assistance to others, ensuring projects move forward and tasks are completed. Self-motivated: You are proactive and take initiative on open-ended projects with little oversight.Director of Philanthropy Must Haves:Demonstrated success leading and growing major donor and institutional giving programs with measurable revenue resultsStrong relationship management skills and the ability to adapt appropriate communication methodsHas a successful track record of supporting and/or leading grant applications and successfully acquiring grants and managing grant reportingExperience utilizing and managing Salesforce (or very similar CRM)Experience serving as a senior fundraising leader within an organizationExperience directly soliciting and closing gift asksExperience portfolio planningAbility to translate program impact into fundable narrativesComfort working with budgets, financial reports and ROI. Strong understanding of restricted vs. unrestricted fundingComfort leading through influence, even without direct reportsCapable of leading at a high strategic level while executing at a granular levelPassion for Only7Seconds' missionExperience as a self-starter, with a track record of accomplishment while working under minimal supervision. Director of Philanthropy Nice to Haves:Focuses on and attends to details with the ability to respond to changing needs as presented.Experience building multi-year philanthropy strategiesExperience forecasting and revenue modelingExperience structuring gift agreements and grant budgetsExperience managing growth-stage fundraising programs within a scaling organizationExperience planning or supporting capital, growth or major initiativesAbility to assess campaign readinessExperience launching or managing planned giving programsFamiliarity with bequests, DAF, stock gifts and complex assetsMeasures Of Success: This position will be successful by: Achieving growth in major donor revenueRetention and expansion of institutional partnersStrengthening and qualifying of the donor pipelineProgress against fundraising targetsIncreased organization-wide philanthropic operational efficiency using systems & tools to ensure efficient execution, including tracking & reporting. Location: Candidate should be located in Western Washington, and must be located in Washington state. Willing to travel throughout the Pacific Northwest. A couple of travels nationally each year may be required.  Compensation: This is a full time salaried position that is competitive and commensurates with experience. Approximate annual salary range is expected to be $90,000-$100,000 with immediate growth opportunity upon impact. Salary range reflects current scope, with a clearly defined path toward increased compensation as fundraising targets and organizational scale increase.
