This position will require employees to come on site to one of our St. Louis campus locations a few times per year for meetings/events or as needed.ResponsibilitiesThe Rental Billing department is responsible for maintaining and managing the billing and invoicing software that produces outputs for our customers globally. This includes maintaining and managing interfaces with internal applications and delivering electronic data to external organizations and customers. This is an exciting time to be part of the billing team as we continue expanding globally and increasing our footprint across both on-prem and cloud-based database platforms.This posting is for an Engineer 2, DBA in the Rental Billing area. The position will have the opportunity to support several application development teams across multiple departments as part of the platform and infrastructure team. The candidate can anticipate working with various internal software products, including Rental Financial Systems, Bill Delivery, Foreign Rental Billing, COMPS, and Account Maintenance. These products support our accounting, invoicing, processing, and calculations for our company and all global customers. There will be no shortage of opportunities to develop relationships with contributors from the development teams as well as customers and sponsors of our products, along with the opportunity to champion teamwork as we continue to evolve our support model with a focus on operational efficiency, reliability, and proactive issue identification.As an Engineer 2, DBA, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation, stability, and support of our database environments. This role is focused on supporting application teams, maintaining database health, and ensuring that database changes are implemented safely and efficiently across both on-prem and cloud environments. You will work with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases and collaborate closely with development teams to review database changes, troubleshoot issues, and support application releases.Responsibilities IncludeImplementation of approved DDL and DML changes in both prod and non-prod environmentsCommit and manage database scripts in Bitbucket and pull approved changes for deployment in support of release and change management processReview and approve application-driven database changes, to ensure compliance with performance, security, operational, and recoverability standardsReview SQL from application teams for correctness, efficiency, and safetyDevelop and maintain a working understanding of the application data models, including core tables, relationships, data flows, and how applications use the schema, to support troubleshooting and change reviewMonitor database health, performance, and capacity and act on alertsSupport application teams in troubleshooting database related issuesSupport release cycles and assist with database patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance activitiesSupport backup, recovery, and restore validation activitiesFacilitate user access management and support data security practices, including PII awareness and customer data redaction requestsParticipate in an on-call rotation that includes some light after-hours supportKnowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesProven ability to safeguard confidential and highly sensitive database contentStrong communication skills, able to articulate complex technical issues clearlyStrong teamwork, decision-making, documentation, and analytical skillsKnowledge of backup and recovery technologies and processes relevant to Oracle/PostgreSQL on-Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/VeteransQualificationsRequired:Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the futureMust reside in the United States (does not include Alaska or Hawaii) Must be able to work a schedule within U.S. Central Standard Time core business hours.3+ years of administering databases in a production environment, with strong experience in Oracle or PostgreSQLExperience working in both on-prem and cloud-based environments, or strong experience in one with demonstrated aptitude to support and learn the otherStrong SQL skills, including the ability to write and read complex queries, review changes, and identify inefficient or incorrect scriptsExperience supporting application development teams with troubleshooting, release coordination, and change reviewExperience with database user administration, access control, and least-privilege practicesExperience with database monitoring, alerting, and basic performance analysisExperience with using version control (such as Git or Bitbucket) for committing, reviewing, and pulling database changes as part of the deployment workflowMust be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilitiesPreferredBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferredExperience with cloud-managed database services (AWS RDS, Aurora, etc), including backup, replication, and failoverExperience with PL/SQL or PL/pgSQL stored procedures and functionsPractical experience with Oracle tools such as OEM, RMAN, and Data GuardExperience working with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform for cloud configuration and supportExperience working in a Unix command line environment and with scripting languages (Shell, Python, Perl, etc)Knowledge of Agile methodology and tools like JIRA and ConfluenceUnderstanding of data governance and security standards (such as PCI)
