Region Ten provides services for mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use in the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Greene, Fluvanna, Louisa, and Nelson. Possible future career opportunities include direct care staff, social workers, nurses, clinicians, teachers, office staff, administrators, and others that make a valuable contribution to their community.By performing your internship at Region Ten, you will gain valuable experience in providing direct care and clinical experience with clients who are experience needs as well as learn from experienced and supportive clinicians and other staff members who can assist you in learning how to write progress notes, write treatment plans, write other clinical documentation, and so much more.Depending On Your Area Of Interest, Your Career Path, And Area Of Placement, Your Role And Assignment Will Vary. Our Internships Will Vary From Season To Season. Current hours 8a-5p M-F with potential weekend availability.HORIZON CENTER - NELSONContinuously OpeningDaily Tasks:In this program, students work face-to-face with adults with Serious Mental Illness, alongside a team of providers for Psychosocial Rehabilitation. One of the advantages of this location is the opportunity to work with adults who have a high level of acuity, while still always havingother professional staff present to provide support. Direct contact hours are abundant here, providing opportunities to strengthen skills for working with clients coping with acute mental health symptoms, intellectual and developmental needs, and substance use concerns.Students have also had opportunities, as needed, to work with multi-disciplinary providers at the Nelson Counseling Center in order to focus on specific skills, interview experts in other disciplines, and broaden educational experiences.Placement In School: Enrolled in bachelor's or master's level degree program that supports mental health practicums or internshipsCertification Or License Required: noneAdditional Internship Expectations: Looking for a candidate who is creative, collaborative, and will concentrate on person-centered approachesCOMMUNITY RELATIONS AND TRAININGAccepting applications on continuous basisMultiple Internship OpportunitiesDescription The Community Relations department is seeking an enthusiastic individual who can assist the Director of Community Relations with social media posts and marketing initiatives related to behavioral health. Regular tasks include regular social media posts on Facebook andLinkedIn, putting together articles for the local newspapers and television news on topics related to behavioral health, and creating and reviewing flyers for various teams and programs at Region Ten.Placement In School: Undergraduate degree preferredAdditional Internship Expectations: Experience in Canva and/or Adobe Suite preferred.
