Junior Estimator (Commercial Construction)

About Steady Solutions Steady Solutions is a fast-growing commercial general contractor and design-build firm operating across the Western U.S. We deliver interior and exterior construction projects including tenant improvements, commercial renovations, site work, flatwork, and parking improvements for institutional and corporate clients. Due to strong backlog and sustained growth, we are seeking a Junior Estimator to support estimating, bidding, and preconstruction efforts. Role Overview The Junior Estimator supports the estimating and preconstruction team in preparing accurate and well-organized cost estimates for commercial construction projects. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, providing exposure to negotiated, hard-bid, and GMP projects while working closely with senior estimators, project management, and operations teams. Key Responsibilities Commercial Construction Estimating Assist with commercial construction estimates from concept through final bid. Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and field measurements. Support development of project budgets, cost estimates, and bid proposals. Review plans, scopes, and specifications to help identify scope gaps and risks. Assist with preparing bid clarifications, exclusions, and assumptions. Support awarded projects with change order pricing and cost tracking. Participate in site walks, field verification, and pre-bid meetings. Subcontractor & Vendor Support Assist with soliciting subcontractor and vendor pricing. Organize and analyze subcontractor bids. Help review subcontractor scopes of work for coverage and gaps. Support subcontractor selection and buyout preparation. Collaboration & Systems Collaborate with Senior Estimators, Project Managers, and Operations. Maintain organized estimate files, takeoffs, and backup documentation. Help maintain historical cost data and estimating benchmarks. Utilize Procore, Bluebeam, MS Excel, and estimating tools. Support business development with conceptual and ROM estimates. Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. 0–3 years of experience in construction estimating, project engineering, or a related role. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Basic understanding of commercial construction means and methods. Proficiency with MS Office (Excel) and willingness to learn estimating tools. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Clear written and verbal communication skills.
