TITLE: Production Welder (Shop) – Class B Classification: HourlyREPORTS TO: Production Supervisor/ForemanPosition SummaryTrident Maritime Systems is seeking a skilled Production Welder (Shop) – Class B to support fabrication operations in a controlled shop environment. This role focuses on table-top welding and repeat production work, requiring consistent weld quality, efficiency, and attention to detail.The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in shop-based welding and the ability to perform FCAW (Flux Core) and GMAW (MIG) welding with limited supervision. This position requires the ability to produce quality welds, perform multi-pass welding operations, and maintain production standards with minimal rework.This role is suited for individuals who are dependable, production-focused, and capable of maintaining consistent output while continuing to develop advanced welding skills.Responsibilities / AuthoritiesPerform FCAW (Flux Core) and GMAW (MIG) welding on mild steel components in a shop environmentExecute table-top fabrication and welding in a controlled production settingProduce consistent, high-quality welds with attention to bead profile and overall appearancePerform multi-pass welds with proper bead placement and sequencingMaintain first-time quality standards and minimize reworkPerform grinding, cleaning, and finishing of welds to meet production and quality expectationsFollow work instructions, blueprints, and supervisor direction as requiredMaintain productivity levels to meet daily and weekly production goalsAssist with basic fit-up tasks when required to support workflowMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaComply with all company safety, quality, and operational proceduresRequiredQUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:Minimum 5 years of welding experienceMinimum 2 years of shop-based welding experience (fabrication shop preferred)Minimum of two (2) welding certifications required, including FCAW (Flux Core) and GMAW (MIG)Additional welding certifications (up to four total) are preferredExperience with FCAW (Flux Core) and GMAW (MIG) welding processes requiredAbility to produce consistent weld quality with limited supervisionExperience performing multi-pass welds with proper technique and bead controlAbility to perform grinding and finishing work to meet quality expectationsMust be able to pass company-required welding tests (MIL-SPEC / NAVSEA standards as applicable)Strong work ethic and ability to perform in a production-focused environmentAbility to follow instructions and work effectively within a teamPreferredBasic fit-up knowledge and ability to assist with fabrication tasks Experience with stainless steel or copper-nickel MIG welding Exposure to TIG welding (limited application) Previous experience in a production fabrication shop environment Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and weld symbolsWork Environment / Physical RequirementsWork is performed in a controlled shop environment (not field or shipboard work) Welding is primarily performed at tables and fixtures (table-top welding) in seated or standing positionsRegularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks Ability to perform repetitive welding tasks in consistent and varying work positions throughout the shiftAbility to lift to 50 lbs. as required Must be able to safely operate welding equipment, grinders, and related tools Exposure to typical shop conditions including noise, heat, and welding fumes Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a teammate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Teammates are occasionally required to sit.Specific physical requirements include but are not limited to the following:Must have the ability to bend, squat, stoop, crawl, and kneel. Perform prolonged standing. Ability to turn head from side to side and about the vertical axis. Ability to turn body at the waist from side to side and about the vertical axis. Lift/push/pull 50lbs to 75lbs on an occasional basis. Lift/push/pull up to 20lbs on a frequent basis. Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs, scaffolding.) Able to work at a variety of levels (ex. waist, eye, overhead). Demonstrate the ability to safely and appropriately use required tools and equipment.
