Volunteer: Companionship Volunteers Needed

Gentiva Hospice is part of the Kindred at Home family of personal home care, community care, home health, palliative, and hospice providers.,Gentiva Hospice in Springfield (and surrounding area's) is looking for good people who want to volunteer and make a difference in their community. We are looking for volunteers who want to work in our office, visit patients (either at home or at a facility) and/or serve as pet therapy volunteers.No minimum time commitments required. We can work with your schedule. Most volunteers give an hour of their time three times per month. We will train you at our Springfield office.As an office volunteer you can help with copying, filing, creating binders and folders, help with bereavement mailings, work on special projects, and other duties that you feel comfortable doing. As a patient volunteer you will be paired with a patient and will visit him/her to provide companionship in the form of conversations, sitting and watching tv/movies, playing games together, playing music for your patient, reading to your patient, doing puzzles or word games with your patient, or praying/reading the Bible or other book of faith. Whatever gifts and/or talents you have can be used to benefit our patients.You will never be sent to a patient who has Covid-19 or any other infectious disease. All patients are within one hour of Springfield.Help make a difference in the lives of terminally ill patients, bring joy and happiness to them, and give back to your community.
