Job Title : SAP ABAP Backend DeveloperJob Location : Europe (Full Remote)Job Type : Contract Job Job Description: Your working area & responsibilities Handle development requests, service requests and incidents (2nd level) based on ITIL methodologies Analyze and debug in the ABAP stack, including dumps/logs/traces and Gateway/OData issue analysis Implement small enhancements and bug fixes Troubleshoot Fiori/UI5-driven processes and OData services (v2/v4), including integrations with internal and external systems Conduct performance analysis and optimizations (e.g., Open SQL, CDS annotations, paging, indexes) Contribute to cloud-readiness of applications (e.g., ABAP clean code, stateless design, external configuration, logging/tracing, OData v4, ABAP Cloud/BTP) Ensure quality: ABAP Unit tests, documentation, and knowledge base contributions Collaborate with development, architecture, product team and drive continuous improvement (e.g., automation of recurring tasks) Your skillset Must-have qualifications 3-6 years of experience in ABAP developments on the latest S/4HANA ABAP technology stack (Frontend: UI5/FIORI, Backend: ABAP-OO, oData, CDS) Solid ABAP OO fundamentals; confident in debugging and Open SQL Hands-on exposure in one or more areas: CDS views, OData, SAP Gateway, Fiori/UI5, or integration interfaces (e.g., ABAP Proxy/RFC) Basic understanding of transports (CTS/gCTS), authorizations and user concepts Structured approach to the ticket lifecycle Strong presentation and communication skills in English Nice-to-have (you can learn these with us if not yet covered) Fundamentals or initial experience with BRF+, BOPF, RAP Working with ADT (Eclipse), abapGit/gCTS, and CI/CD SAP BTP topics: ABAP Environment, destinations, Cloud Connector, authentication/OAuth Experience with performance tools and logs/traces (e.g., ST12, SAT, ST22, /IWFND/ERROR_LOG) Basic UI5/JavaScript skills and familiarity with browser dev tools SAP security basics (e.g., roles/authorizations, OData security, CSRF) What to expect Guided learning on the latest SAP stack: RAP, ABAP Cloud/BTP, modern OData, Fiori Clear growth path: from operations-focused developer to full-stack SAP cloud developer to lead architect to technical lead managing a team of developers Modern toolchain: ADT/Eclipse, Git/gCTS, abapGit, ATC, CI/CD, ticketing and monitoring Tangible impact: keep productive services stable, reduce MTTR, improve performance, and advance cloud-readiness Success metrics Meeting SLAs and reducing resolution times (MTTR) High quality and durability of fixes (no regressions, solid tests/documentation) Continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the team Active contributions to cloud-readiness and automation Usage of AI wherever possible Bring in fresh ideas to increase efficiency Customer satisfaction
