Device Design Engineer
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Device Design Engineer to develop cutting edge switching power MOSFETs for 12V to 80V applications. You will participate in the full product cycle from conception of architecture through final product characterization. This will involve the development of novel device structures, optimization for performance and ruggedness using TCAD simulation, and development of test and characterization methods to demonstrate device capability and limits. You will interface with process integration engineers to develop cost-effective, manufacturable designs and consult with IC design teams developing the MOSFET drivers. If you like problem-solving, and challenging the status quo, we’d like to hear from you. What You’ll doDevelop high-performance power switching devices based on fundamental physical principles and available manufacturing capabilitiesDevelop proprietary process flows and identify critical design parameters and process variation sensitivities which affect manufacturabilityDevelop simulation experiments to identify critical process and design parameters and center them for reliability, performance, and manufacturabilityWork closely with fab process engineers toward development of new process recipes and design rulesDevelop intelligent process and layout experiments for engineering lots to minimize development cycle timeExecute test mask and product mask layouts with support from CAE teamIdentify testing requirements and techniques for new technologies and advise during characterization and testingAnalyze measured data on devices and test structures to optimize device design and processProvide engineering support for existing power semiconductor products to maintain yield and performanceQualificationsExpertise in one or more of the following areasPower Semiconductor DevicesSemiconductor Device PhysicsSemiconductor Device ReliabilitySemiconductor ManufacturingMaterials ScienceTCAD modeling and simulationDevice layoutUnderstanding of switched-mode power applicationsImplications of packaging and PCB parasitics during switchingImplications of package and PCB materials on thermal characteristicsInfluence of / requirements for MOSFET driverDesired experienceDemonstrated track record of commercially successful power MOSFET developmentsDirect experience in advanced Switching Power MOSFET structuresEducationM.S. or Ph.D. in relevant field with 7+ years’ experience in power semiconductor device engineeringAdditional InformationRenesas is an embedded semiconductor solution provider driven by its Purpose ‘To Make Our Lives Easier.’ As the industry’s leading expert in embedded processing with unmatched quality and system-level know-how, we have evolved to provide scalable and comprehensive semiconductor solutions for automotive, industrial, infrastructure, and IoT industries based on the broadest product portfolio, including High Performance Computing, Embedded Processing, Analog & Connectivity, and Power. With a diverse team of over 22,000 professionals in more than 30 countries, we continue to expand our boundaries to offer enhanced user experiences through digitalization and usher into a new era of innovation.
