ARFD's practice areas are Medical Malpractice, Product Liability, Asbestos Litigation, Automobile Product Liability, Health Care Law Construction Litigation and Premises Liability.Aaronson Rappaport Feinstein & Deutsch, LLP is currently seeking candidates for a full-time Legal Secretary position in the NYC office to perform a variety of secretarial duties of a confidential nature and have knowledge specific to the law field in handling summonses, motions, subpoenas, etc., as well as standard secretarial duties, that might include email, filing, copying, and faxing. The candidate will work under the supervision of 4 attorneys and will provide support in assigned legal cases (Medical Malpractice).ResponsibilitiesPrepare legal documents i.e., Verified Answers, Affidavits of Service, Subpoenas, materials for discovery, etc.Transcribe digital dictation including proofread all documents, formatting, and editing,E-file case documents in State and Federal Court.Compile motions.Uploading documents to client portals, processing invoices, sending out transcripts, letters, reports, and records to experts, etc., and composing and typing routine correspondence.Accurately file documents with the court ahead of deadlines.File, organize, scan, copy, and fax legal documents promptly.Communicating with clients and/or other attorney's offices via email, over the phone, or in person.Other responsibilities include uploading documents to client portals, processing invoices, sending out transcripts, letters, reports, records to experts, etc., composing and typing routine correspondence.QualificationsAssociate degree or equivalent work experience.2+ years’ legal experience as a paralegal or legal secretary.Effective time management and strong organizational skills coupled with the ability to be detail oriented.Interpersonal and written communication skills.Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)Strong ethics to handle sensitive documents and to comply with relevant privacy laws when creating documents or sharing information.Ability to multi-task and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.Technological skills, especially computer literacy and ability to troubleshoot.Ability to type with a speed of at least 50 wpm with high accuracy.Familiarity with legal documents and terminologyOther Duties This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of all activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
