Job Title: Mortgage Loan Underwriter Summary:As a Mortgage Loan Underwriter, you're detail-oriented with aknack for analyzing complex information. A Day in the Life:You'll be the go-to expert for underwriting mortgage loan files, ensuringcompliance with bank and investor guidelines, including Freddie Mac standards. Reviewing and AnalyzingLoans: Your day starts with reviewing, verifying, andanalyzing loan documentation, appraisals, and property records. You'll divedeep into the details, ensuring every piece aligns with our standards andguidelines. Making ThoughtfulDecisions: When it comes to loan decisions, you'llhave the authority to approve or recommend approvals. You'll provide clearreasoning for each decision, outlining detailed criteria for any conditionsapplied. Staying Current andSharing Knowledge: Keeping up with secondary marketunderwriting guidelines is key. You'll not only stay informed but alsocommunicate updates to your team, ensuring everyone is aligned with the latestindustry standards. Preparing for Closingsand Enhancing Policies: Before loans close, you'll delivercomplete, accurate files, and review withdrawn or denied applications tomaintain reporting accuracy. Your insights will help improve policies, andyou'll suggest alternative loan structures when needed. Supporting and Trainingthe Team: You'll provide underwriting support across regionsand offer training to Mortgage Loan Originators, Processors, and other staff,sharing your expertise to elevate team performance. What You Bring: 3-5 years of mortgage underwriting experience,including Freddie Mac, investor, and MI company overlay expertise. Strong knowledge of conventional loans and government programs. Excellent organizational skills to manage timelines from application toclosing. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with yourteam. Solid computer skills (Word, Excel, Windows), strong risk assessmentabilities, and sharp decision-making skills.
