Electrical Engineer – Vehicle Systems
Overview
In this role you own the design and development of vehicle electrical systems for production autonomous battery-electric rail vehicles. You’ll work on vehicle electronics, power distribution, traction and braking, safety-critical control logic, and compute/sensor networks. As the responsible engineer, you ensure high-reliability electrical systems are integrated with software, mechanics, and autonomy components under regulatory oversight. You’ll thrive in a cross-functional, safety-focused environment and help advance a greener, safer freight solution. You play a key part in delivering robust propulsion and control systems that scale to production.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop vehicle electrical systems, including wiring harnesses, off-the-shelf hardware, and test standsDevelop and document safety-critical subsystems (DFMEAs, hazard analyses, V&V)Hands-on hardware bring-up, bench testing, and debugging of electrical assemblies and prototype vehiclesLead end-to-end system integration with lifecycle ownership and interface managementMaintain engineering documentation: schematics, BOMs, test reports, and change logs
Key requirementsBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related discipline3+ years’ experience with power distribution, control logic, or embedded communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet, SPI)Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and validate system performance from first principlesExperience with CAD and design tools such as SolidWorks, Altium, RapidHarness, or similarcross-functional collaborationhands-on, practical problem-solvingclear communication and documentationpower distributioncontrol logicembedded communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, SPI)
