Environmental Health Safety Specialist
Client: Major Medical Device ClientPosition: EHS SpecialistDuration: 6+ Months ContractLocation: Mahwah, NJ 07430Pay Rate: $60.00-$80.00/ Hr on W2DescriptionWe are looking for a stand-out EHS Specialist who will focus on providing technical support and EHS leadership at the site.You will be seen as a subject matter expert (SME) and a key contributor to the EHS strategy.This role mentors and supports the site to ensure the delivery of EHS strategy and processes that meet business needs.What you will doMaintain the EHS management system in line with internal and regulatory requirements, ensuring procedures and documents are up to date.Prepare and deliver training, including induction and job-specific EHS topics.Conduct regular EHS inspections and audits to monitor effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.Prepare EHS reports and metrics for internal and external stakeholders.Lead the Emergency Response program, ensuring procedures, resources, and training are in place for potential scenarios.Ensure a robust EHS incident investigation process is implemented.Monitor incident trends and identify areas requiring action.Lead investigations as necessary.Assess the EHS impact of proposed changes to plant, process, and equipment, ensuring compliance and risk control.Ensure effective risk assessment and risk reduction programs are in place.Monitor EHS legislation and ensure compliance with current and upcoming requirements.Maintain waste management and environmental monitoring programs in line with regulatory standards.Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste activities, ensuring proper documentation.Lead EHS projects on-site and support cross-functional teams.Collaborate with site leadership to align on key EHS priorities and action plans.Promote a culture of accountability and collaboration related to safety and environmental performance.Conduct regular site tours to identify and address safety risks.What you needBachelor's Degree in EHS Management or a related field (Engineering, Mechanical, etc.).5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including 3+ years in EHS roles with focus on risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and emergency response.Familiarity with ISO 45001 requirements and implementation.Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across all levels.Preferred certifications: First Aid, CPR, Hazardous Materials Technician (24-hour), Incident Command (8-hour), and respirator medical clearance.Knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, risk control, root cause analysis, and process safety management.Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Strong communication, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.Ability to make sound technical decisions independently.No direct supervisory responsibilities, but may act as backup for leadership when required.Demonstrates agility and adaptability in dynamic environments.Builds collaborative networks and fosters teamwork through transparent communication.Encourages knowledge sharing to achieve optimal results.Holds self and others accountable for making well-informed decisions.J-18808-Ljbffr
