General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
Under supervision, this position is responsible for performing a wide variety of skilled painting work such as maintaining and repainting surfaces of existing products, painting newly constructed projects, and related work. This position works independently to safely prepare, paint detail aircraft according to schedule using company quality standards and operating procedures. Act on behalf of the Lead in their absence and provide assistance and work direction to other painters.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coat surfaces of aircraft with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, or other material, spray guns, and other devices and ensure high quality final parts.
Prepares, paints, and finishes coating to aircraft, parts, and assemblies including set up the equipment used to paint aircraft components.
Prepare composite and metal surfaces, sanding, water break testing as well as tape testing.
Prep, mask, etch, plate, prime of composite components and parts.
Performs detail touch ups.
Must be able to utilize and maintain painting equipment and support with overall shop cleaning and maintenance.
Mark and cut tape, woven material, honeycomb, adhesive and similar materials following templates, guides or specific dimensions and sequences following specific instruction.
Route, drill, trim and sand to blueprint dimensions and tolerances.
Maintain records as required.
Support quality process by maintaining work area in an orderly condition by returning tools, equipment and material to storage areas.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications
Typically requires High School diploma or equivalent and five or more years of related experience.
Must be customer focused and desirable knowledge of safety practices, OSHA, tool, equipment and materials used in the field.
Knowledge of surface preparation, material and techniques for surface finishing.
Must possess ability to read and interpret drawings to understand customer requirements.
Physical ability to lift to 50 lbs. and ability to work from ladders.
Interpersonal skills and written communication skills to work as a team.
Be able to interface with employees and upper management from other departments and effectively communicate status of job and estimated completion dates.
