Database Engineering Manager The Database Engineering Manager is accountable for overall delivery of the Database Engineering services and activities. The Database Engineering Manager creates new Database Engineering service offerings and optimizes existing services making use of available Database Products to provide technical solutions to BP clients. The Database Engineering Manager ensures smooth transitions to and from the Database Products and Database Operations functions. The Database Engineering Manager advises clients regarding the best use of Database Engineering services, dependent upon the circumstances. The Database Engineering Manager captures, collates, and reports on KPI metrics for Database Engineering activities. The Database Engineering Manager works with suppliers to staff the Database Engineering team. Skills and Qualifications: Advanced communication and interpersonal skills, including speaking to people via phone and meaningfully conveying ideas via e-mail. Advanced presentation skills, including presentation and training related to Database Engineering service offerings and products. Proficient in solution architecture and design, including ability to identify solutions and risks applicable to the situation. Proficient in cloud component architecture, including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. Proficient in using the Atlassian suite of tools, including JIRA and Confluence. Proficient in Agile / Scrum development methodology. Proficient in task creation, assignment, tracking, and closure. Proficient in problem management, including receipt, route, and escalation of problems. Proficient in use of productivity tools, including Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft SharePoint. Proficient in change management concepts and processes. Working knowledge of Relational, NoSQL, and Cache database engines. Working knowledge of the Database Engineering service offerings and products Process Management Skills: Develops UDBSL processes and procedures in partnership with internal and external teams to ensure simple and straight through processes, procedures and methods are implemented across the team. Communicates, schedules, and notifies Database Service stakeholders on any process or procedure that would impact the UDSBL system. Develops Client engagement processes and procedures Develops Product development processes and procedures Develops Engineering processes and procedures Develops Operations processes and procedures Develops Compliance and Auditing processes and procedures Develops Change Management processes and procedures Develops Release Management processes and procedures Coordinates the implementation of process improvements with internal and external teams Executes Information Management (Sentosa, CMDB, Documentation)
