Accounting Manager

StevenDouglas is partnered with a high-growth manufacturer out of the north-west suburbs to identify an accounting manager! This role will report directly to the Assistant Controller and have hands-on all general accounting functions as well as significant process improvement opportunities!Key Responsibilities Lead day-to-day corporate accounting activities, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with U.S. GAAPManage and mentor a team of experienced accountants, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growthCreate and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements to ensure completeness and accuracy of reported resultsPartner with the Assistant Controller and Controller on financial reporting, consolidation, and analysis of corporate and divisional performanceOversee the implementation and integration of key financial systems, including lease accounting, fixed asset management, and consolidation softwareLead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, consistency, and data integrity across multiple ERP platformsMaintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and support audit readinessCoordinate annual external audits and regulatory filings, serving as the primary point of contact for auditorsResearch and apply U.S. GAAP accounting standards to ensure proper treatment of complex transactionsParticipate in cross-functional projects supporting organizational transformation, scalability, and system modernizationServe as a thought partner to finance leadership, contributing to the design of future-state accounting processes and team structure Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree or CPA preferredMinimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to corporate or multi-entity environmentsStrong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controlsExperience managing or mentoring accounting teamsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Proficient in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, advanced formulas, XLOOKUP’s, etc. and familiarity with ERP and consolidation systems Ability to navigate various systems and willingness to work in the toolsDemonstrated success implementing accounting software or process improvementsPublic accounting or audit background is a plusExcellent analytical, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to balance strategic priorities with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environmentExperience with M&A valuation, integration preferredPositive, proactive, and collaborative leadership style Empower and develop team members, promoting critical thinking, accountability, and continuous skill developmentStrong business acumen with the ability to effectively and independently problem solveHighly organized with the ability to multitask and reevaluate priorities when necessary Apply today!!
