Position Type: Part-Time, TemporaryJob Title: AP Literature and CompositionAlignment & Assessment DesignerEffective Date: 01/07/2026Reports To: Director of Design, Development, & Project ManagementContract Length: January - December, 2026Job Summary: The Virtual Arkansas Alignment & Assessment Designer serves as the project's standards alignment and assessment specialist. Working alongside the Content Designer and Developer from the initial planning phase, this role ensures that course content aligns tightly to the Arkansas Curriculum Frameworks and that all assessments reflect appropriate rigor, DOK levels, and expectations found on standardized assessments such as ATLAS, ACT, and SAT. The Alignment & Assessment Designer creates high-quality assessment items and contributes to a coherent instructional and assessment system that supports strong student learning outcomes.Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneDuties/Responsibilities:Review Arkansas Curriculum Frameworks to identify, interpret, and map essential standards for the assigned courseCollaborate with the Content Designer during concept and storyboard development to ensure standards alignment and instructional coherenceCreate high-quality, standards-aligned assessment items—including formative checks, lesson-level assessments, unit assessments, and benchmark-style questionsEnsure all assessment items reflect appropriate DOK levels, mathematical or disciplinary accuracy, and formats aligned to standardized assessments (ATLAS, ACT, SAT, etc.)Validate alignment between standards, learning objectives, instructional materials, practice activities, and assessmentsDocument alignment decisions and communicate assessment expectations clearly to Designers, Developers, and project stakeholdersReview course modules during development to ensure alignment and assessment integrity is maintainedCollaborate with the Developer to ensure assessment items are implemented correctly and appropriately formatted in the LMSParticipate in project meetings, calibration sessions, and professional development as neededPrioritize and adapt work to meet required deadlinesAbide by all Virtual Arkansas and applicable Arch Ford ESC policies and regulationsOther duties as assignedRequired Skills/Abilities:Strong verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailStrong interpersonal and teamwork skillsExpertise in analyzing standards and designing aligned assessmentsAbility to write high-quality, rigorous assessment items reflective of standardized testing expectationsAbility to work collaboratively within a project team while completing independent tasksStrong proficiency with digital tools and platformsEfficient time management and ability to meet deadlinesAbility to learn and adapt to new and emerging technologies, including potential AI tools used for drafting or refining assessment itemsEducation, Experience, and Qualifications:Required: Valid Arkansas Teacher Licensure in the appropriate content area and grade bandBachelor's degree (minimum); Master's degree preferredStrong familiarity with Arkansas Curriculum Frameworks for the assigned courseExperience designing assessments aligned to standards and DOK levelsPreferred: Experience with ATLAS expectations or other standardized assessment designDemonstrates strong content expertise and understanding of assessment best practicesDemonstrates high-quality written communication skills and attention to detailPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerPeriodic travel requirementsSit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouchUse hands to handle or feel, type, and pick up objects, and reach with hands and arms;Talk or hear to communicate effectivelyFrequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 poundsOther Information:This position will be hired through the Arch Ford Education CooperativeTelework from home officeCompensation: $4,000 minus applicable taxes, retirement, and fees
